I just find it strange how Carr is vilified as if he is Hitler I find it even stranger how Cameron could come out and also say he is morally wrong. Get your house in order then talk. HMRC close off those loopholes and it will be sorted.

DHSF, I agree with you that it's a bit harsh that Carr is getting murdered in the press when he's not the only one employing schemes to avoid paying tax. But in truth, I don't have a lot of sympathy for him. He's only saying sorry because he has been caught. Our economy is not in great shape, people are having to tighten their belts, so it's a bit hard to take when you see and hear stories about rich and famous people doing everything they can to avoid paying tax.... and get away with it!!

Amazon should be barred from trading in the UK until they comply and pay full tax.

If tax evasion wasn't so rife we wouldn't have to make the cuts, ( although modest) that we are and we could use the money to stimulate the economy via infrastructure spending. You understand that f everyone paid 2% tax the country would be utterly fudged. The whole 'it's not illegal' thing is complete flimflam. It's like inventing a drug worse than heroin and saying its fine just because they police havnt gotten round to banning it yet!! Yeah, it's legal, let's give heroin type stuff to babies!!!! What a crock of brick.

The top 1% pay 27% of all taxes. Top 10% over 50%. And so we should.

That's society, the wealthy pay for the weak. Now should we get lazy 20 year olds tossing it off working? Yes!! But the wealthy should pay proportionately the same as the poor.

I do advocate a flat tax to be fair. But a 2% tax wouldn't even pay for educating our kids since it would only raise ?30 billion and we spend over ?700 billion a year on government spending!!!

But this aint a drug and it aint worse than Heroine and he isnt giving it to babies. Who is he harming? no one. if anything its the large corporates that are not the small fry like Carr.

Of course I understand but you have also got to understand that it is up to the HMRC and the Government to close off those loopholes and whilst Accountants and Tax Experts find these loopholes, people no matter which class theyre in can use them to their advantage. Dont forget its not like Carr has not paid tax at all even if it is negligible compared to his earnings.

As you say whilst these corporates get away with paying the little tax that they do you cannot especially Cameron come out and vilify the smaller fish like Carr. Rather than come out and vilify Carr you come out and not only vilify the larger corporates but actually give us mere mortals some assurance that the government will work hard to close off the loopholes that exist.

Why hasnt Barlow been as vilified as Carr? Just curious.

I am all for the flat tax - how much though I dont know - 25% - 30%? It would simplify matters considerably and none of this loophole malarky

He hasn't fronted it. Completely gone to ground.

The government is actually far harder on corporates than Labour. They are going after the accounts in Luxembourg and other offshore tax havens. What he did was wrong IMO and the government was right to pile in!!
 
UKIP policy is a flat rate tax, including National insurance, and scrap the existing NI payments.

It does seem so much more simplified, and allegedly would actually raise more tax than currently.

whilst i agree that he isn't doing anything wrong i can't help but think someone who makes their living in this country should be paying their fair share of tax - which i don't think he is doing - legal or not

Thats where the morals come in.

Can I ask you something and not picking on you. If I said to you as your Accountant that I can reduce your tax bill to around 3% (knowing that you wont go to jail you are not breaking rules etc) - what would you say? Extra thousands in your pocket and maybe a better life for your family? Im now talking on a more individual basis now.

Gonna vote UKIP then.
 
Nope.

I could avoid thousands in tax easily. I don't. Neither oes my wife and she owns her own business. A licence to fiddle taxes.

I pay all taxes. I could become an employee of my wife's company and write down all kinds of expenses if I wanted. I don't because I'm not a hypocritical kunt.

I never said you were dude.

But you do know that your money is being wasted within the Public Sector, such as the NHS, right?

A great deal of my very hard earned cash is being wasted hence I would have no hesitation in paying that 2% rather than the 20% and 40%. I would gladly pay 2%. I guess we are all different.
 
We don't get to decide I'm afraid mate. Don't like what the government spends our hard earned on? Vote against hem next time.

As far as Cameron's dad is concerned. So what? If he's avoided tax he's a kunt too. Two wrongs........
