James Maddison

Hopefully he can stay fit, at least until the new year…

What we've been missing in terms of a 10 all season. If he stays fit I truly believe we will be better just for the fact the starting lineup will actually have balance.

I am increasingly unsure if Maddison is the answer to our conundrum in midfield. Everybody is expecting too much from him, perhaps including RDZ. I am not so sure he could have overcome the low block first half Aston Villa of today (or Everton in the first 20 mins; or Saudi Sportswashing Machine for that matter). Have we seen enough of Maddison in our shirt to believe, or is it merely hope because there are no alternatives?

Agree.
Last season I think a few people wanted an upgrade on Madders cos he was never fit. We are hoping he comes back and Kulu and quite frankly that is a long wish to hold out for.

His hair is nice though.

I mentioned in another thread that my Brighton supporting mate said he doesn't think RDZ would ideally choose Maddison as he prefers crazy pressers and great drivers with the ball which seems to fit Kulu muh more so than it does Maddison. Potentially that might be why we haven't seen him intoduced as swiftly as expected?

Thought he was excellent when he came on today. His attitude was levels above a lot of the other lads who seemed to have given up. Really hope he can start contributing more soon not because I think he’s necessarily the answer to our prayers but because I think he really gives a fudge.

Good from a creative role perspective. Should have done much better with the Buendía goal; turned his back on it.

You know what, that’s fair comment and I’d forgotten it. He did have to be braver there. But he wasn’t just good creatively, he put himself about a bit and did do some of the dirty work when others seemed to accept the defeat.
