Isco is a huge name in Spain, he was kind of the poster boy for the next golden generation.

I still lived there when RM signed Bale & most casual fans were confused why Bale was being picked over him (Obviously they then learnt Bale is a beast).

Apparently he was born in a very small town near-ish to Malaga so would have some incentive to go there - IMO Malaga would be a dreadful place to play/live -- stadium has a brick atmosphere.
