Interim Manager Discussion - Igor Tudor joined until end of season

Would you have these as interim manager to finish the season?

  • John Heitinga

  • Current Coach (Lewis, Cochrane, Burnett, Carr)

  • Ryan Mason

  • Jurgen Klinsmann

  • Chris Hughton

  • Brendan Rodgers

  • Edin Trzic

  • Gareth Southgate

  • Former Manager Hoddle/Jol/Redknapp/Sherwood

  • Stick with Frank no matter what

What I'm more worried about, more than what coach we appoint, is our fvcking injuries. With 16-17 players available most coaches could do a job and get 12-15 points from our remaining fixtures. The state we're in though...

And it's a pity, because CL will have to be deprioritized as a result. We could have had a decent run.

I still genuinely think we’re reliant on West Ham or Forest continuing to have a really poor run, we basically need them to be worse than us as opposed to us having the tools to be better than them at the moment.
West Ham are on a good run and Forest battered Wolves without any luck. 37 shots. We are only decent in the CL. Woeful in the PL. I think we have to get another 12 points to be safe, which is a big ask with all the injuries and our poor squad.

Arsenal (H) - 0point
Fulham (A) - 0 point
Crystal Palace (H) - 1 points
Liverpool (A) - 0 points
Forest (H) - 3 points
Sunderland (A) - 0 points
Brighton (H) - 0 points
Wolves (A) - 1 points
Aston Villa (A) - 0 points
Leeds (H) - 3 point
Chelsea (A) - 0 points
Everton (H) - 1 point
Pretty much my thinking, though id say we beat Brighton at home and lose to Leeds. 9 points.

Not concerned about the appointment. The damage is already done. We will end up on 38 points. Wether that is enough to stay up depends on how Wet Spam do.

I'm more than a little concerned by this Tudor appointment, tbh. Yes he seems like the sort of hardass to inspire some discipline, but he comes in as a largely Serie A-focused journeyman with no experience of the Premier League, and the fact that every single one of his tenured has ended badly is a warning sign.

If we wanted a grim relegation battler for 12 games, Sean Dyche was right there. I think he might even have a better record than Tudor.

I think our squad needs a combination of a bit of a hardass, but also someone to respect, Tudor has been a top level player and managed big clubs (bigger clubs than Dyche)

I think he's very interesting and his career is very consistent, he comes in, makes an impact (don't know enough to say if it's discipline/tactics/etc.), then about 6 months - year in, it fades out, again not sure if players stop responding our opponents sus it out. And it pretty much has worked for 7 gigs.

I actually think Dyche would have been a disaster appointment from a PR perspective, regardless of his attributes, he's really seen as this generations Big Sam.

The bigger problem is we have given any manager too little time, too late in the season

Can someone do the legwork and show where the CL fixtures fall within our domestic run please 🙏
Possible dates below, along with my guesses for our league results:

Arsenal (H) - 0 points
Fulham (A) - 1 point
Crystal Palace (H) - 1 point
** CL round-of-16 games 1L 10/11.03.2026

** CL QF games 2L 14/15.04.2026
Brighton (H) - 1 point
Wolves (A) - 3 points
** CL SF 1L 28/29.04.2026
Aston Villa (A) - 0 points
** CL SF 2L 05/06.05.2026

We need our home support to actually get behind the team. I understand why there were toxic vibes whilst Thomas Frank was in charge. BUT it’s a crucial stage of the season and if home supporters can give it everything then that could help us get a point or two more and right now those points could be vital to our survival.

I’m unsure on Tudor as an appointment but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. We could be relegated. Let’s give as much support as we can and hope we aren’t.

We need to behave like we do for CL games

This is more important than who we appoint. If anyone around you are booing or moaning, their negativity will suck us towards relegation.

When we get relegated, some of you will be saying "I told you so, no experience in the Prem, never gonna work" so please state here and now in this thread if you feel this is the wrong appointment AND tell us who you would appoint instead (must be gettable, not Poch or Alonso etc).

Go:
Definitely not me. Not seeing anyone we could realistically get that wouldn't have downsides of similar magnitudes to no PL experience.

Dyche was just fired by Forest for not getting them out of the relegation scrap they're in?

Another potential problem would be the similarities in style of play with Dyche and Frank, if the players have been dissatisfied for a while chucking in another "more of the same, but with a different face" may not have worked.

My point isn't that Dyche would have been bad or wrong, more that the concerns around anyone would be similar to those of Tudor (in magnitude, even though not the same).

On him preferring a more high intensity style I can understand the concerns with our injury situation. But we have two weeks off now and in terms of league games there's way more a game a week than two games a week coming up.

If we're in the mud when the CL fixtures start back up I'm assuming Tudor's priorities will be clear.

Hopefully we'll get some players back from injuries in the not too distant future too.

I'm not sure it's such a good idea to make it clear to everyone - including the players - that he won't be there next season. Nobody really expects him to stay on anyway, but if you're a player and you don't like him or if you decide you'd be better served by, say, taking your foot off the pedal for a few months before the World Cup, it's just a 12-game wait before another new guy comes in.

I hope Tudor will adapt his methods to the (bizarre) circumstances because he will have litterally no pull on the players. Then again, you get what you pay for...
It would have been crystal clear anyway that barring something almost unbelievable he would be done come the summer.

One of the potential benefits with him is that he's been in similar situations before.

It seems rather likely that the relationship between Frank and the players had soured. I think that's always going to impact performances. If they can't get their foot on the pedal for a relegation scrap with a new guy in even an interim our problems are insurmountable.

Another potential motivation imo would be - do you want us to take the CL games seriously? Get us to a position where we can.

The game against that mob is a free hit but a massive game if we can get a result.

If we get a miracle shock win it will give the players and the fans a massive massive boost and a real moment to get behind the team once again.

That would put them under pressure in their pursuit of winning the league and us a little less pressure in avoiding relegation.

I’m trying to be optimistic here, but I’m really hoping that we get a bounce. It would be epic.

Even if we get a draw it would be a cracking result.

A loss and a good performance would be acceptable.

A loss and a poor performance would really make the place the standard of the season.

I don’t know what to expect which is better than what we have seen all season where I expect us to throw the towel in early and not turn up.

COYS don’t do it to me again.

looking at the remaining fixtures, even if we exclude Arsenal, we win our remaining home games we should be safe.

We can absolutely do our part in getting behind the team at home. It’s all we as fans can do and we must do it
