The answer lies with the FA and the manager, make it clear that any player missing a certain amount of games will not be considered for tournaments.

It's an honour to be selected to represent your country but we live in a time where few get the concept. I'm often disappointed England don't play with the passion or pride other teams do but it's hardly surprising when I read some of the comments on here. We don't have a nation it's just a group of tribes hating one another.

Its just oversaturated. Tired players, playing pointless game that no one cares about. Cut the number of fixtures - only have competitive games (qualifiers and tournaments) and suddenly it becomes more prestigious again.

Totally agree, but you can't put the genie back in the bottle, FA, FIFA, UEFA all want the money and media want a cheap product which will get them customers. It doesn't help that England have a small pool of elite players to pick from, is their any other top nation with so many overseas players?

Solanke will get run into the ground.
Hopefully with international football being slower, he can just do a Kane and slowly trot from one side to the other rather than the hardcore press he does with us. I appreciate it's not easy with Richi's injury, but I hope with Lankshear back we look at managing his minutes better where possible. He's a real asset for us and we can't afford him getting burnt out/picking up injuries from being overused....

It fudges with the real football too.

Feels like it’s stop start all season, this is what, the 5th international break since August?

It’s ridiculous.
Said it before, have all the international friendlies at the end of the season, so no breaks in the league, and a better warm up for national teams leading into a tournament. Also allows the best managers to be in charge of national teams, as well as the best players.

Do you think if we gave Lankshear Solanke's tracksuit and packed him off instead, Carlsey would notice?

I agree with the principle of what Kane said....

"I think the joy to play for England - he [Southgate] brought that back. Every camp people were excited and wanted to play for England.

"That is the most important thing, England comes before anything. It comes before club. It is the most important thing you play for as a professional footballer. Gareth was hot on that and not afraid to make decisions if that started to drift from certain players.

"It's a shame this week. It's a tough period of the season and maybe it's been taken advantage of a little bit. I don't really like it, if I'm totally honest. I think England comes before any club situation.”

What I don't like is this passive aggressive BS from Harry again. When Kane pulls on that England shirt and leaves it all out on the pitch I'll be in his corner. He doesn't, and therefore doesn't have a strong case. For years, he has only played on his own terms, just like he did for Spurs in the last 2-3 years. I want him to score goals AND put in a proper shift. I don't want to see him pretending he's competing for headers with his back to goal when he's clearly pulling out of them. You can't kid a kidder in life and so many of us can see it. I also want to see Kane actually showing for the ball when his lungs hurt, not just when he feels OK. I'd rather have his best 60 mins and then applaud him off the pitch than what we see nowadays with Harry. He goes through the motions, and has done since he was 27.

Such a brilliant goalscorer, but Harry also needs to turn up.......but not in the same way he talks about other players. He needs to turn up in all aspects of the game, not just putting the ball in the net. Otherwise, step aside and let honest players like Watkins and Soalnke give the best of what they've got for the 3 Lions.

Pleased for Carsley he finished on a high with two good wins. I never thought he was the man for the job even though he had a good record at U21's. Was pleasing to see so many young players getting a chance.

It’s difficult to guage based on International football where outside a small number of teams (England should really be looking at winning a big tournament with the current generation of players) the standard is poor. Carsley does seem to have something about him and it would be interesting to see how he’d get on if say a mid to low ranking premier league club takes a chance on him.
