Ian Watkins

Re: Ian Watkins the new Savile.

This links to Dubai's bit about it happening through History (it's about Savile, but relevant here I feel);

Savile told Esquire: ‘The thing about me is I get things done and I work deep cover. I’ve known the Royal Family for a million years.’

Was Savile talking about 'his type' when he said that? Can't be sure, but I know what I think.

Prince Charles met Savile on numerous occasions. In 1999 he accepted an invitation to a private meal at Savile's Glencoe home which was this week daubed with graffiti reading "Jimmy the beast". Savile asked three local women to dress up in pinafores emblazoned with the letters HRH and Charles subsequently sent the television presenter a Christmas card with the note: "Jimmy, with affectionate greetings from Charles. Give my love to your ladies in Scotland."
Charles reportedly sent him a box of cigars and a pair of gold cufflinks on his 80th birthday with a note that read: "Nobody will ever know what you have done for this country Jimmy. This is to go some way in thanking you for that."

Savile was asked to invite guests to Royal Party on behalf of Prince Charles;

“Laing said several of his colleagues were also contacted, and some thought it was "weird" that Savile was involved in organizing a royal event.”
(the original article from the article is not working for me)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ed-Prince-Charles-appointment-royal-aide.html
Prince Charles asked Jimmy Savile for advice over the appointment of a senior aide for him and Princess Diana, it was claimed yesterday.

Of course the possibility of what I am intimating will be to difficult for most to contemplate, sorry to those people, no offence intended.

Re: Ian Watkins the new Savile.

I actually love LostProphets

Watkins is innocent you fudgein cretins Grrrrrrrrrr

Re: Ian Watkins the new Savile.

I can look back at their first album and think "actually they did something pretty good there, even if it's not really the sort of thing I'm in to now" but after that, it's all pretty terrible imo.

Do you like to stand on the rooftops and scream your heart out DFS? ;)

Re: Ian Watkins the new Savile.

Lethal injection time i think. To do something that fudged up means you are beyond help in my opinon, i have to be honest i had never heard of him before wish i had never heard of him full stop.

All kiddy porn is wrong but to try to *struggle cuddle* a 1 year old????? the is no way that is something that can be dimissed and i do not believe you can come back from something like that. Death is the only answer and that is not me joking or playing up to a right wing image. But honestly if someone even for a second thinks they can do something like that they do not deserve the right to breath.

Disgusting.

I agree with this.

Re: Ian Watkins the new Savile.

I "was" a fan of Lost Prophets, been to several of their concerts and saw them when they headlined at Donnington a few years back. After this though i feel sick and will never buy any more of their music or see them live. I know its only one member of the band, but that guy has fudged up the rest of their careers if he is convicted. They say any news is good news, but not in this case for the band.

Re: Ian Watkins the new Savile.

Would be terrible if it turns out some crazed fan has set him up.

Funny enough I did that last summer and still managed to get the last train home although it felt like 4 AM forever

I'm against the death penalty, but I do think these types of crime require life in prison, no chance of parole. Same goes for all rapists too, not just people who *struggle cuddle* children. A bloke who went to my school got 5 years for *struggle cuddle*, 5 years! The person who he raped gets a life sentence, same should apply for the perpetrator.

Re: Ian Watkins the new Savile.

What's the cost of keeping someone incarcerated their whole life though?

What does the victim get? Maybe a token victims of crime payment, but not much else.

Why are we so concerned for the rights of criminals, and lead victims to fend for themselves?

First question. Good point.

What does the victime get if the person who did wrong to them dies as a result of capital punishment? They will still be traumatised for the rest of their life, killing the person that did it won't change that.

I am not concerned for the rights of criminals, if anything, our justice system is far too lenient. But I am yet to be convinced that the death penalty is the answer to certain crimes. I've looked at some statistics in America with regards to the murder rate in states that have the death penalty compared to states that don't. There is no conclusive evidence that the death penalty deters crime, if anything, the murder rate is actually higher in some states that do enforce it. Unfortunately there will always be warped people out there who won't to *struggle cuddle*, kill molest people. Does a death penalty really stop certain people from wanting to commit these crimes?

I don't know what the answer is to be frank, but the death penalty isn't it IMO.

Indeed, except they're still a burden on society.

Don't get me wrong, if some Dexter like character was out there killing off people who commit these crimes, I wouldn't shed a tear for any of them, but capital punishment is a bit barbaric and outdated in my view.

i think a level head is important in these situations, especially when it involves a 'celebrity' .. if he's guilty of these crimes, then he deserves to be punished to the full extent of the law.

it's an IF though, if he's been set up or duped by a crazed stalker fan (not that far from the realms of possibility) then it's a terrible situation.

i don't want to mention the word suicide, but i wouldn't at all be shocked if that was the final outcome of all this, regardless of the real truth behind all the conjecture.

I think that might be why they refused him bail.
