No he didn't.
He said it was a hip muscle injury.
He seemed a little surprised to be asked about it. If he was making it up, it was impressive. There was no discernible change in expression or tone etc.
Overall, he just seemed very very down.

Common sense meant it always sounded ridiculous.
Yeah would be a real positive if our captain of the last ten years, or whatever it is, was the type of person to up sticks and cry off when the going got tough - though it may explain a few things

How do you know he wasn't? It's a muscle injury. He spend 45 mins using those muscles - so quite likely injured it then?!

I do know he should never have been brought back in after his injury
He has been responsible for so many goals against this season it’s scary
