Hugo Lloris

Lloris can either be brilliant (Dortmund away) or brain fartingly scary (Barca at Wembley). Lets how Brilliant Lloris turns up against City

He made a good penalty save but he pushed an easy Sterling brick into the danger area. And that attempt at claiming the cross could have cost us.

Fudge me, he saved the sterling one that was similar to the one ederson the greatest goalie who ever drew breath let in.

I'll rush over to Trippier thread and see you there now doubt.

Easy to criticise but when I finished watching he had kept a clean sheet

It’s much more fun to just enjoy the game

I'd argue he saved our season again. First the penalty save against Arse, then his world class performance against Dortmund, and now this vital, vital save from the penalty that never should've been. Quickly making up for his troubled start to the season, at just the right time.

I'm just glad he didn't take any liberties, no silly kicks or extra touches. He kept things safe and solid and that filters out to the rest of the defence imo.

question answered - emphatically ! Three pens saved on the trot, bloomingada

It's amazing really. Over the years he's been one of the best shot-stoppers in the game but never seemed to get near saving many penalties for us. At the moment, he is saving every one!

City tie to be decided by penalty shootout. Hugo saves one and it's Sissoko in sudden-death to win it for Spurs...

Just because one goalkeeper did even worse in a similar situation is not a barometer of how Lori's played.

I did not say he played a bad game. We defended well and limited them. But he spilled that shot and that cross at the end was a better Fernandinhio header from being 1-1.

It was going good until the last bit.

I actually think Lloris is working on some of his technique (and could be a reason he's been a little up and down, changing things often creates a middle period before improvement)

Why I say that? two points, the penalties (he used to suck at them, now 3 in a row), second is his low saving, shots he used to go for with his hands (low and close to him) he now goes for with feet (kick save ala De Gea)

People underestimate the value of that penalty save at that stage of the game.

That is how i saw it as well, that punch at the end was a mess and could have led to a drawn game. Apart from that he was good and i was glad to see he cut out a lot of these short passes out to our defenders, other teams are now zeroing onto that and it has cost us this season.
