Which is really funny as 10 months ago this board and England in general were quite happy with pickford for the WC and as a long term replacement for Hugo if we could get him.
10 months on Hugo has a world cup, in CL quarter final and a probable CL place for next season.
Perspective, something that often gets lost in fandom.
 
This whole Hugo thing is difficult for us fans, I'm not 'totally' happy with Hugo over the past few seasons. But replacing him is a whole new plate of enchiladas. I have not a clue who we could get/afford to replace him?

Another season in the champ should be butlands cost fall.
 
I would like to see Gazza get given the chance but its not going to happen. Every game from here on is a cup final, Hugo does have big game experience, but I just dont want him to make anymore game costing mistakes like Barca at Wembley or Liverpool last week. Trouble is, I am not convinced he wont.

At least He’s no Karius though!

Players at either end of the pitch can look bad because they are on their own doing specialist jobs but are also reliant on those around them to do those.
How many times is a striker critisised for not scoring when he is getting poor or no service.
Trippier, Davies, aurier and Rose have all been written off as well as Wanyama and dier. Out of our regular defence that leaves Jan and Toby who are 'good enough'.
Yet we are heading for top four, CL quarters, league Cup semi finalists.
Beggars belief at times how short sighted how some fans can be.

I bet you're not confident of a top four even when we've finished there. Start moaning about the next season as the players do their parade lap I'm sure.

And lamela is pants, winks will never make it, Llorente is done, Eriksen is looking elsewhere, Kane, dele and poch are all off to bigger clubs in the summer and son is streaky.
Woe is fudging me.

I think we’ve got to the position we are in because of the attacking players mainly. The defensive unit including Lloris have been under par this season. Lloris has had a difficult couple of seasons now it’s not just the odd mistake. Let’s be blunt, France won the World Cup because they scored plenty of goals, Lloris even found a way to gift a goal to Croatia in the final in comical circumstances. You can’t have your captain making the amount of mistakes Lloris makes in big games. He’s a big reason why we don’t win big games IMO, not the only reason mind you but he’s a big factor. Like i said before, I’d like to see Kane become the captain and have Lloris and gazza battle it out for no.1 spot next season. But make no mistake, Lloris owes us some big performances until the end of the season, starting with Emirates Marketing Project. If he makes another howler then personally I would drop him. Poch can’t be sentimental or overly loyal. If a player keeps making mistakes then they should be dropped simple as that.

I'm goung to reply to this and @Legohamster in one,
I don't generally critise players, but I find it very annoying that players get singled out for criticism, Hugo, Trippier etc, and yet Eriksen can go half a season and it's not ignored he's defended to the death.
Hugo owes us some performances, doesn't Eriksen?
I'm not picking on Eriksen, GHod knows I've defended him as often as I've been critical of him, and I've only been critical to expose the hypocritical imv overboard criticism of others.
We win and lose as a team, I support the shirt, not the player.

Funny you mention Eriksen, I’ve been disappointed with his performances since Xmas. He’s shown a lack of character and I personally believe he’s mentally checked out.

As for Lloris and others you mentioned like Trippier, they have come in for criticism as they’ve made the most mistakes this season and they’ve been in big games unfortunately.

Our defence has been the weak link this season. As a unit and individually we’ve not been solid at the back and we’ve made too many individual errors. The stats prove Lloris just isn’t mentally up to it in big games. He saves his big mistakes for the big teams when we can’t afford to gift goals to teams. I think it’s a crucial time for Lloris at Spurs. His performance levels must improve otherwise I believe Poch should replace him like Redknapp replaced Gomes as his errors were becoming too frequent.
