Hugo Lloris

I think he’s top class, but I’ve noticed his instinctive movement is to rock back on his heels as a shot comes in.

Sometimes this works fine; other times he is falling back slightly as the ball comes goalward. If there is a partial block or scuff he is already falling back and cannot adjust. I would like to see him moving slightly forwards as someone shoots, taking charge.

I also think now is the time for him to have an understudy who can push him more for his place. Vorm has been a decent number two, but a bit of succession planning for Hugo would be a good idea imo.

On a scale of a) having a vague conversation with an agent to b) making a firm offer to a club - where does “showing an interest” feature in the lexicon of the summer transfer window?
And are we automatically linked, however loosely, with any player from Southampton?

It's a Brace-to-react technique that depends on timing very suitable for smaller keepers. I have always found bigger keepers though more static harder to beat as they cover more area naturally, however Loris was the first keeper to convince me otherwise.

Agreed, he braces himself to react and naturally just starts leaning back to gain a fraction of a second reaction time, perfectly natural.

But sometimes it means he is falling back into the net as the ball arrives which makes the save harder.

After his Hollywood saves in the last two games, it will take a poor showing from him in the final to not be crowned keeper of the tournament too, IMO.

Back to front it was some save this evening against Belgium
