By bringing on Parker you allowed Modric, Lennon AND BALE further upfield to support Ade. You also allowed one of Kaboul and Gallas more upfield. Not to mention walker.

So HE DID NOT SETTLE FOR A fudgeIN DRAW. He changed a formation to be more attacking WITH ONLY TEN MEN

Or we could allow Modric, Lennon, Bale AND Defoe further up field? A draw is the same as a loss, if we had gone for it and conceded it would have made no difference whatsoever

Bale did not have his shooting boots on today all his shots were wrong one of those days for him. Modric and lennon are not pure goal scoreres, we needed a goal.

There are no guarantees but methinks if you need a goal and you only have 1 striker on the pitch how about you bring on another one?

but if we'd lost we'd have needed a 3 goal win against fulham next week should arsenal draw rather than a just any old win now. 2nd away game in 4 days with the same players and 40 minutes with 10 men. it's not easy to say the least. arsenal have looked really shaky recently. a 50/50 at best they win

Where did our pressing game go? Ever since new year we seem to be unable to do it, or has someone told the players to stay back more? If we would have pressed Villa more intensely this game we’d have had the three points.

I know some people try to put a positive spin on everything but this has to go down as yet another wasted opportunity. A massive, massive opportunity wasted. The game was there for the taking but I can only assume that Harry believes going into the last game a point behind Saudi Sportswashing Machine is more important than challenging Arsenal for 3rd.

Securing CL and keeping the likes of Modric and Bale now relies on WBA and Bayern and frankly I dont have much confidence in any of them to helping us out.

The players who would have had to stay back would have been Sandro, Gallas and Kaboul with Walker tracking back when needed. Hardly a huge loss when we could have gained a lot more with Defoe

Hell, what actually happened was Gallas went up front by the end of the game, Defoe would have been much better in that position I think we can agree

How many times have we brought on Defoe and switched to a 4-4-2 when things were not going to plan, only to look and play even more brick and not even create any decent chance? it's happened so often this season but people still don't want to register it in their thick heads and continue this flimflam.

He put on Parker so we can get hold of the ball more, to keep possesion, and to hopefully create chances from it. "Put on Defoe, put on Defoe" oh shut up with that flimflam.

The thing about finishing 4th is that while most of us think Bayern are a better team than Chelsea we all know that on any given day when the likes of Drogba, Lampard and co turn up they can get a battling result.

We didn't have any trouble holding on to the ball at all throughout the second half, we dominated possession up until the final whistle. What we needed was someone who can create themselves a chance, or at the very least take up another defender and give Adebayor a chance to get in to some space

PArker can only keep the ball with himself. He had the ball on a few occassions and started to do his one armed canoeist impression again only for us to lose possession.

Its easy in hindsight to say it didnt work. Bale is capable of winning us the game.

personally I feel Villa were so negative that it wouldnt have mattered. Just chuck Defoe on and tell Bale to push on.
