My team will win AVB the title =D> \o/ :ross:
HARRY REDKNAPP has told Andre Villas-Boas: I’ve left you a squad good enough to win the title
Former Chelsea chief AVB is expected to be named Tottenham manager within the next 48 hours.
Redknapp was surprisingly axed by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy earlier this month — despite guiding the club to fourth in the Premier League.
And he thinks the players he has left behind for his successor are good enough to snatch glory from the Manchester giants with another year of experience under their belts.
Redknapp said: “He’s been in England and the Premier League before.
“He was at Chelsea where things didn’t quite work out for him.
“But the chairman at Tottenham obviously feels he can do the job there. He’s certainly got the players. He’s got the players there to be a top four team every year AND challenge for the championship. That’s my opinion.
“They have got the ability there and I think that will happen.
“In the last few years, we’ve come from nowhere to be a top-four team.
“The next step is to win the championship — and I don’t think it’s impossible.”
But Redknapp insists that if Villas-Boas wants to be a success, his first job must be to keep star player Luka Modric at the club.
Tottenham’s Croatian playmaker was denied a dream move to Chelsea last summer when Redknapp and Levy both refused to sell.
Modric is now believed to be more determined to leave the club following Redknapp’s departure.
The midfield maestro put in three impressive displays for Croatia at Euro 2012, despite his nation crashing out in the group. Modric has been heavily linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid, with Spurs unlikely to even listen to offers below £30million.
Redknapp added: “It would be a huge loss. He is irreplaceable.
“But if they get massive money, they can go and get three or four players and improve the team in other areas.”
Tottenham were boosted this week by Gareth Bale’s decision to sign a new contract, which ties him to the club until 2016.
Barcelona were said to be interested but Spurs broke the bank to give him £115,000 a week.
Redknapp oversaw the Welshman’s development at White Hart Lane.
He said: “He is a great player. Not only is he a great player, he is a top-class boy.
“He will go on and become one of the great players in world football. He will be the best left-sided player, for sure.”
