Harry Kane MBE

I haven't but have you watched Kane in the league? He adds nothing and was responsible for the West Ham goal. Is Scarlett worse? If he is then we know and can quickly get rid of him instead of hanging on and hoping like we usually do.

See above regarding half arsed Kane vs not yet good enough Scarlett.... Even when we played whipping boys Mura (who are probably bottom of Championship/upper League 1 level) Scarlett couldn't make any impact. Kane comes on for half an hour and scores a hattrick

Calling Kane responsible for the West Ham goal is a bit of a stretch IMO. A corner cleared our near post blocking headers and ended up shin high to the player he was marking who reacted better than he did. In terms of blame for that goal he goes a clear third in line after Regulion who's stupidity cost us the corner and our players at the near post who we should absolutely expect to be able to head away a corner that ends up at shin high in our six yard area.

Reggie for the goal is even more of a stretch. The ball went out of play - everything is reset. Kane doesn't look like he is going to injure himself for us. Good for him.

I'm all for tracking a passage of time, let alone one which can shift momentum, but Reggie's action did not directly cost us a goal. The ball went out for a corner. What cost us the inability to defend the corner. I believe Kane's starting position with Antonio is wrong. I also believe he got caught sleeping. Put simply, if he defends his man better, there is less of a chance that ball goes in. As a striker I'd expect him to mark a peer better; he couldn't have been tighter, just in the wrong position. I think it is clearly his to defend.

I think it was you that once blamed Aurier for a Liverpool goal because of something he did as the ball went out for the throw from which they (eventually) scored from Steff? ;)

Hahahahaha well-played mate :D, I actually blamed him not for the throw-in concession but for then dropping off and into a deep right position which Tanganga was already covering. It left a giant hole for the thrower to drop the ball into. I did fail to apportion blame on Winks for not tracking Firminho's run (he lost focus) but still maintain that hole left was necessary if the player is playing with eyes up.

The key with the goal was how the ball arced left to right form the kick and dropped behind the 3 defenders
I’m not sure Kane would have seen it and all Antonio needed to do was make sure it him by moving his leg
I don’t know how Kane would have cleared that on the floor when he was behind him at that point TBF

Kane is doing nothing different and is just out off form thus his timing and touch are skewiff.
Of course the ‘move’ saga has effect his metal state but I don’t see Harry hiding in any way.
His timing is off maybe but imho there is no conscious change in his game

But here you clearly have one player that moved and the other didn't. If it was Sanchez not Kane would you come to the same conclusion? I think that if a player is certain that no one is around he can wait for the ball. If there is any chance that an opposing player might get it, then moving towards the ball is the best decision.

Strikers can gamble as they literally just have to take the ball in one direction
Defenders can’t as much
And moving towards the ball would mean being in front of Antonio which may well have been a foul to get there
It was a great cross that could have been defended better

Good to see peeps coming to Kane's defence instead of jumping on him for his one mistake in aeons. Seems certain posters prefer to stick the knife in at the first opportunity, despite the fact that time and again it's HIS strong header that clears the danger from a corner.

Sadly those occasions count for nothing with some.
Personally I wouldn’t of blamed him or even a centre back if Romero/Dier was in that position. I’ve seen the goal a few times and I still fail to see what Kane should have done. On here the culture is someone has to be to blame, rather than just accept realistically there wasn’t anything that could have been done. That’s just the way it is sometimes…..

My initial reaction watching it live was that Kane should have done better. But seeing replays after, that ball dropped/dipped very quickly once it had cleared the near post players. I don't think he or Antonio expected it, but it fell just right for Antonio. We should have dealt with it better at the near post. Ideally Kane would have reacted faster, but I don't think the fact that he didn't should be held against him. It was a tricky ball to deal with.

Agreed, it wasn't stellar from Kane but as you say, we are talking fractions of a tenth of a second to do anything about it. He has cleared 1,000 corners for us, so he is SLIGHTLY up on net zero ;)

Such a sad sight this season. A combination IMO of Kane not being committed, the squad not close to being able to create anything, and an overly defensive/clueless tactical set up.
