Harry Kane MBE

Guinevere via Prof on COYS:

Yesterday we received info from Guinevere that matches the above. She didn't say anything about the Emirates Marketing Project situation, or about a new contract. However, she did say that the club arranged the location of his holiday and were 100% aware of the return date. She's been scathing about the way his brother has behaved but on this one she believes Harry hasn't done anything wrong or without the full knowledge of the club

More:

Guinevere said "Harry is righty fuming. He wasn't late back from break. He arrived when he was expected to. The club knew this because they made the arrangements. They've let the story run, when they could have squashed it instantly by telling the truth. Not good. There are other parts to the saga, but on this part, Harry is in the right."

And here's the perils of relying too much on ITK - there's allegedly knowledgeable folk around claiming very different versions of events.
Best to not hang too many of your hats on it.

If that is true then both the club à Kane could have come out on Monday and called flimflam! Sorry but common sense tells me this doesn’t ring true, why let it fester like that for a week?

Because they thought they were going to get a deal from city? Then city bought grealish.

Am I the only one believing this? Because Kane's statement, like any public statement of those with half a brain, does not contain any lies - I firmly believe that. That he did not "refuse to train" - again I am inclined to believe that. The key is in the exact choice of words of course, and it is weird that the club did not quash the rumours outright. Also strange that he did not speak to Nuno before today. So many loose ends I admit, but from the moment the story broke, I have considered this option too, knowing that the media would big this/anything up and that just about everyone would fall for the story.

And, to add to the above, I am astounded by how Harry has been vilified on this board in the last few days. I am not saying he has done everything right, but in the long run, since 2014, he has been superb in every aspect of the game. I for one hope he stays.

This all sounds like Paul Miller is being used as damage limitation on behalf of the Club and Kane.

It makes no sense that the Club didnt quash the story on the Monday, especially when the likes of Sky were reporting that we were expecting him back that day, that we were disappointed in his actions and were going to fine him.

No way this is all a misunderstanding as Miller tries to suggest. Also explains the conflicting ITK as Miller is essentially communicating the new position between the parties, but just dressing it up as always being the case.

If the Club used Miller to post that however, it suggests the mediation between Club and player has gone well and Kane now accepts only a bid of circa £160m will be accepted. It also suggests what he is saying about a new contract is true.

What do we expect this new contract to be? A new 4 year deal, so adding 1 more year on the current deal and wages of £350k pw? And there will probably be a release clause that comes into effect from the summer of 2022. What would Levy and Kane agree on though? £120m as he would have 3 years left on this new deal by the summer of 2022, but really its 2 years left as the extra year to 2025 would be more a PR exercise in the new contract announcement if that makes sense.

Perhaps levy has said give us one more year without angling for a move, you get a pay rise and a contract with a release clause. Further to this you will see how much investment we are willing to make to sincerely rebuild the team.

Looks like we have got Romero, Gollini on loan at the moment for A) cash flow to smooth over the covid extra debt, and or B) we finance these moves when we sell Kane next year if we don't make Chanpions League.

Only the resort? Thought he’d at least got a go on the yacht. Clearly on his way...

Tbf I'm sure it was reported earlier in the summer that Kane was having an extended summer break and potentially going to miss the opening game of the season as a result - that's when the rumours started to ramp up
It was, 100%
That’s whats odd
I didn’t expect him back on Monday from what I read earlier
Next thing you know… he is on strike
But Kane could have stopped the comments quickly
So too could the club
The club gain nothing from doing so, especially after the sun article

Agreed, neither club nor Kane have much to gain from letting it run and not clearing it up.

Maybe they're in this together as a means of flushing out an offer from City before we get really late in the window? Maybe there was an agreement between the two that if he's going to leave then it needs to be by [insert date]?

Did we comment when bale was in spain? Prior to his move to madrid? I know with modric harry said his head was not in the right place.

Maybe a deal is already in place and we just want to do our business first? Maybe they all thought they could get a deal with city but city have not met the price? Maybe just a big misunderstanding.

Still a bit to go.

And the video with Neville was also part of the plan?

This reminds me of the first wizard rule in Sword of Truth.

"People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they're afraid it might be true. Peoples' heads are full of knowledge, facts and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."

What plan are you talking about?

Yes, you are

- Kane tried to pressure the club over the last year, the Neville interview, the not turning up (there was talk in Euros of him telling teammates he wasn't going to come back to Spurs), none of those things are untrue

Probably, reality has set in, City is not willing to put up all cash (want to throw a set of castoffs our way), Levy has had a right conversation with Kane and said, sorry mate, I absolutely don't need to let you go this window or next for that matter.

The club has managed the PR side perfectly (say nothing), a contract renewal where Kane gets a raise (money is part of his wanting away), probably a real release clause (see Charlie, you fudging dummy), Kane has to do all the flimflam PR, give us a year and then up to him/Charlie to find someone who can buy it out (again, no negotiation) could be a good compromise.

The only person doing damage control is Kane, and that should help you understand where the brick came from in the first place.
