Harry Kane MBE

So the latest is 130 plus Silva, which I think would be a good deal. Definitely bullsheet as its in the daily fail but would anyone accept that, if it were true?

Newbie here... so go easy on me. Would be frankly amazed if Emirates Marketing Project offered that... more likely it would 130mill including Silva. But if it is true would bite their hand off in the circumstances. Silva would fill that creative gap on the right, the 130 mill would easily buy two good strikers (Martinez and Vlahovic would be a dream) and we could even then move on Bergwijn and use the money for a central creative midfielder...

I think having them for the first game helps us more than them, despite Kane out (as vs. having them 6 weeks in where they will have their stupid big squad fully up to speed).

Not sure if that quite translates into "we will do them".

I reckon it’s certainly the best time to play them, they can start the season slowly like last year and I don’t think everything is harmonious in that squad after the ucl defeat.

if we start the team as against the goons, though I’d prefer Gollini, then we have every opportunity.

we could certainly have the edge in fitness.

as ever against city we will need to be deep, but not too much so, close off passing lanes and look to counter them decisively.

the three up front certainly possess the pace to trouble city, though we need Dier and Sanchez to play really well.

It certainly helps that City won’t have De Bryne and Foden. I’d still bite your hand off for a draw though….

Harry Kane has agreed personal terms with #mcfc this evening. The fee is still yet to be agreed between both #mcfc and #thfc for the England Captain. However the deal is expected to go ahead without any complications

Errrr are we not a complication then?

Forgive my naivety but how do you get to the point of agreeing terms with a player under contract with another club and leaking it to the press when you haven't submitted a bid that the other club regards as even remotely acceptable?

Happens quite often, we agreed personal terms with Romero about 2 weeks before a fee was agreed. But that suggests we're fine for him to talk to them as we're "happy" a deal is soon to be agreed.

Thought this was reported about a month ago, maybe even longer IIRC?

yeah, I’d take a draw of course.

still, players on show could mean we edge the fitness stakes, a vociferous home crowd can help, I’m not dreading city, looking forward to it, regardless of the behaviour of a certain Mr Kane.

If true then the club expects an agreement to be in place before too long - either City stopped messing around lowballing or we lowered our demands

Or we agreed a fee for Laurito and can adjust our Kane fee accordingly - so Kane going depends on Laurito coming?

Where did that come from?

Somehow I dont see Kane agreeing personal terms with them as the remotest obstacle to any deal!!

Yes, if we can get 5 points from the 3 games before the international break, it would be a very decent outcome given how much transfer business we'll have ongoing til the end of the month

How did they get access to him when he was in the lodge? Why do I feel concerned for him given that Charlie Kane is his agent?

Should I really feel concerned for him? If he gets locked down in a stupid contract, to me it serves him right.

Hard to imagine Levy ‘writing off’ a few quid let alone millions and heaven forfend tens of millions.

I think City cave in or it is off this season. And they will cave.

Meanwhile, a more credible source, Thee Arfletic, must have a better set of ears than the Melee. Kane and other bumpf from today's musings:

"Tottenham Hotspur expect Harry Kane to return to first-team group training on Thursday following his period of isolation at the club’s player accommodation base, The Lodge. Kane, 28, is currently observing a five-day quarantine at Tottenham’s training ground after his holiday in the Bahamas following Euro 2020.

Thee Arfletic understands Spurs plan to reintegrate Kane into group training on Thursday, however it is unclear if the England captain will feature in the club’s opening game of the new Premier League season, at home to reigning champions Emirates Marketing Project.

Kane failed to report for pre-season fitness tests last week but denied refusing to train in a statement after criticism from Tottenham supporters.

Peep Guardiola confirmed last week that Emirates Marketing Project want to follow the £100 million British‑record transfer of Jack Grealish by signing Kane. But Tottenham rejected an opening bid worth £100 million and Guardiola admitted the deal is “finished” should the Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, refuse to negotiate.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s new £42.5 million signing Cristian Romero is training on his own as he continues his recovery from a knee injury. Romero became Tottenham’s third signing of the summer last week, after the arrivals of Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Gil.

The 23-year-old, who was voted the best defender in Serie A last season, arrived in north London with a knee injury. Sources say Romero is already back out on the training pitch, however, raising hopes of a fast recovery.

20-year-old Gil, who was signed from Seville for £21.6 million with Erik Lamela moving the other way, is due to arrive at Hotspur Way on Tuesday. Gil played at this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, winning a silver medal with the Spanish national team."

I read somewhere that once there was a transfer and the club managed to haggle Levy down. He agreed to the lower fee, if the agreed to buy a corporate box at the stadium.

When the numbers came through from Tottenham, the price of the box was the same price as the discount that they had 'managed' to get Levy down to.
