Harry Kane MBE

I have no doubt there will be a lot of big clubs who will give him the chance to do so, ones who have been winning trophys while we have been missing out on them.
He could go to a one horse league like Germany, France or italy but dont get the impression they would suit him
Spain is always an option but there are no guarantees in the big trophy

There are no guarantees, who's to say he could not be wanted by City/Liverpool. I am not saying he would leave but unless he sees a chance to win things here i would not be surprised if/when he does.

He could but even now City went guaranteed anything
And pool are gonna win the league this season but next season will be tougher for them

Where is he gonna go then to guarantee them??

Have all won big trophies (and trophies in general) more recently than us and look more likely to continue doing so unless we change things around.

I'm surprised by the supreme confidence by some of our fans regarding trophies and our ability to actually win them vs other clubs (such as Inter with Eriksen for instance) when we've won a league cup in the last 20 years, finished 2nd once and reached the CL final once. And as of right now, have been on a consistent downward trend for the past 4 seasons.

I've said this before but players want trophies and monumental nights, not balance sheets and the lights show at the stadium.

If we don't match Kane's ambition in the next season or two, he'll look to leave to a club that pretty much every single observer agrees is more likely to win a big trophy than us currently.

If we can match his ambition, make good signings, win a trophy or two (and hopefully a big one) then he might stay. His career is short, he's not going to wait around forever for buts and maybes and the idea that no club is guaranteed big trophies so he might as well stay here rather than going to Barcelona or Chelsea.

That actually isn't even a criticism of the board by the way. If we can't afford to match, we can't. We can't and shouldn't spend money we don't have.

You also forget who would pay the £200m he would cost

It might depend on how much Kane wants to play games as opposed to potentially be rotated elsewhere. That said if he was on the bench he’d still get plenty of minutes being brought on to either get a goal or hold the ball up to see a match out.
As it stands he has had little competition for his place, he’s rarely subbed in any situation and he has the ‘run of the place’.
If he did want to guarantee trophies I think Bayern or Juve in a couple of years would be the best fit, or maybe PSG.
I know he has an eye on Shearers record, I just can’t bear the though of him lining up against us in a domestic match though.
I hope he manages to Captain is to a couple of trophies, help mentor his eventual replacement(s) and then goes off to Beckham’s team in his mid 30s whilst popping back to help us out in the US off season, securing a legacy as one of our greatest ever players and all the recognition that goes with that.

He would start in every team he plays for as he is that good
It’s scary how people don’t rate him yet his record is the best in the world along with Lewandowski
And of course his passing range is better than most midfielders
I also don’t think an English player would put value on winning a league in one that’s so one sided but I may be wrong there
I do think winning the league here has far more weight to it as it’s a tougher league to win and of course close to home
But I don’t see him going anywhere for a very long time at least

If we’ve still not ended our trophy drought within the next 3 seasons, I wouldn’t begrudge Kane replacing Lewandowski at Bayern for some easy silverware to show his grandkids.

Kane (aged 26)
2019/20: 17 goals in 2230 minutes = 131 mpg
2018/19: 24 in 3342 = 139 mpg
2017/18: 41 in 3953 = 96 mpg
2016/17: 35 in 3154 = 90 mpg
2015/16: 28 in 4027 = 144 mpg
2014/15: 31 in 3680 = 109 mpg

Lewandowski (aged 31)
2019/20: 39 in 2973 = 74 mpg
2018/19: 40 in 4179 = 104 mpg
2017/18: 41 in 3757 = 92 mpg
2016/17: 43 in 4021 = 94 mpg
2015/16: 42 in 4237 = 101 mpg
2014/15: 25 in 4003 = 160 mpg

It’s not that I don’t rate him, I’m saying he won’t get as much time on the pitch because most teams have options in his position, so subbed off a lot more, maybe rested, maybe not seen as a superstar as he’s not a flashy player and could go on a dry spell at a club where fans won’t be as patient.
Your point about winning trophies in a one team league is the argument against players saying trophies being the be all and end all - so when they say that it may also be code to play at a bigger club with bigger wages. There are a few that guarantee CL, but only PSG, Bayern and Juventus would be nailed in to win the league 8 out of 10 years. I don’t see him going to Liverpool or City, United are a way off the majors and if he did go there it would
have to be a record fee and possibly to reunite with Poch. I just don’t see him at Barca stylistically, Madrid I suppose could be the one.
I agree winning the league here is a bigger accomplishment with a non doped club. I’d even say an FA cup for us would mean more than any other league to him.
I go back to the last time we won a cup we lost our two best players and the manager is held in nowhere near the esteem the one who got us 4 CL qualifications, put us above Arsenal and a couple of unexpected runners up positions.
I think what Kane really wants is to see us competing for trophies, seeing the investment in players and coaches to give us the best possible chance, which we seem to be doing and this summer will probably be decisive to show our intent.
I would be truly devastated to see him leave during his prime, it has been so refreshing to have a humble academy grad become one of the best players in the world and thus far not have his head turned like so many have before him.

Kane sees a manager here who has won everything. That makes a huge difference to him IMO

Obviously take it with a pinch of salt

But I’m not shocked by this news.

You can't help but think there's got to be some truth in it. The club is yet again in a state of transition, where are we going? Kane's an ambitious player, will he win anything of importance if he stays with us?

The one player I want to keep above anyone else, so I hope we respond by stepping up our transfer game come summer.

One way of really stepping up transfers, is by selling Kane. Would allow us to buy at least 3 top class players.

True. I don't want him gone, obviously, but seeing as his value is probably peaking, and he does seem a bit injury prone, this summer might not be the worst time to actually consider it (from a business perspective) - not saying we should, obviously, he's our talisman, and I would be gutted to see him go.
