Only flaw with his game today was his decision making on playing it short, but that's probably more an Ange issue than one with Vic.

I wish he'd would've said 'Nah fudge this, These short goal kicks are not working today!' and just played it long at least once. We lost possession from goal kicks repeatedly in the 2nd half.
He should have gone long and just took any abuse from Ange at the end of the game and told him we are brick at it. We'd be better off if we just went long to Solanke 50% of the time. At least it would keep the opposition guessing

Yeah, Bournemouth absolutely love to press, that is their main identity, so when we play it short they smile and go hunting.

I think Vicario played a few long balls towards the end of the match. I know there was the one dicey moment where he barely got the ball out to the right after being pressed, but yeah, Ange does seem more set on playing the same way despite how the opposition plays. I don't think the way he sets the team up warrants us being able to do that, as in "let them worry about us."
He did, I actually distinctly remember one where I was like "yep, fudge it, just punt it long" and he did.

That's one of the best ways to beat a press: send it over, accurately, to a player in space. I do think Ange puts a lot of emphasis on keeping the ball on the ground but I remember Bentancur (I think) made a looping pass out of our box or thereabouts to try and relieve pressure. Too many times when we do play it long, it's a desperation hoof just to clear the ball. When the whole opposition team is running back towards their goal is when they're most likely to be vulnerable to the counter. But we all know too well that our passing hasn't been accurate and incisive enough to find runners in space etc.
I wonder if this information is available to Ange, as his system really exposes us to this again and again and again … and again.
Its not about being attacking… he can be more attacking but when your system has a weakness that is continually exposed, you have to find a way to cover that weakness you have to adapt to other teams adapting to your tactics… that’s the game.
I think it is a little more complicated than that.
- We do make adjustments, we don't change philosophy
- The issue is the emphasis on attack/overcommit makes mistakes costly (bad pass, interception, player out of position, why fans by the way are completely wrong when the spacegoat players in this system).
A potential take on the system is at lower levels of any professional sport, mistakes/vulnerabilities are punished less frequently, hence the real argument is Ange's system has found it's limit/ceiling, in leagues with players of a slightly lower caliber, you are able to get away with it, in the PL, it looks like even against brick teams the level is high enough that we get punished too regularly for the system to be sustainable.
