An Instagram post by Real Madrid's Karim Benzema led to many Arsenal fans jumping to the hopeful conclusion that the France striker is set to sign for the north London club. The 27-year-old uploaded a photo of himself on a plane with the hashtag "directionturfu" - French slang for "direction: future".
Meanwhile, the Gunners' 26-year-old Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil was seemingly in the mood for some deep thinking on Tuesday evening,
tweeting: "If you want, you can overcome all: pressure, expectations, gravity." Perhaps physics is not his strongest subject?
And following reports Tottenham were getting ready to offer £15m for West Brom striker Saido Berahino, the 21-year-old's club denied they had received any bid, tweeting: "OK, this is getting silly now. So let us make it clear. There has been NO bid for Saido. That's it. Carry on everyone."
