Can’t stress enough how badly we need him back match fit and healthy. Bergwijn for all his hard work and discipline kills attacks, doesn’t create, doesn’t score enough and offers little going forward. Moura often plays well against the big teams but isn’t consistent. Lamela can’t stay fit and doesn’t hurt teams enough when he does play. All of them are very good options off the bench but not good enough to be starters IMO. Bale even half as good as he was during his last season with us could be the difference to us winning a trophy or not.

Any player pushing on would be very helpful. Bale getting back to a very high level could be immense for us.

I think there's a very real chance that he doesn't get there. Unless he does he's currently out of the team not just because of his illness.
 
He looks way off the pace, almost like he’s worried about getting an injury.

He should definitely be doing more but I'd like to see him start a league game to build up some proper fitness, on the flipside he's barely played for a year.
 
What we discussed earlier was that he appears to lack bravery right now. He looks really shattered mentally. Twice today he made lateral runs going nowhere but still drew fouls because he is Bale. If he could just angle those runs directly towards the opposition box, perhaps the free-kicks would mean something deeper, perhaps his confidence would return, etc?
 
I would imagine he would play better if he was playing in a free flowing football team not a hit and hope we get a break team.
