Righto.

There are loads of away fans, not always segregated, and very very few incidents.

It’s certainly awash with money, but mostly it ends up in the players pockets, based on their performance (not to ignore that they all have agents).

UEFA and FIFA should ban players playing for the clubs in the breakaway league from playing internationally. Stories like this crop up every few years when the bigger clubs want a larger slice of the CL TV money.

True, they do, I do think they would have it if they could though.

agree with this. from my experience of attending 1 nfl game, there certainly were away fans. i attended a game in new york, and there was a whole sections of miami fans (as well as fans mixed in with the "home" fans), much like you would see in a prem game.

you can see from this photo that i took that the home fans are shouting and pointing at one of the away sections. fwiw, the atmosphere felt very mild compared to england.

This is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.

At the price of some things that are really important.

if (a big "if/when") this breakaway league does happen, things would likely continue as is initially imo re the cl qualification spots and pl. if the "founders" are no longer in the pl, whoever finishes top 4 of the remaining teams will qualify for cl. but it would likely feel like a europa league campaign, and within a year or so, the finances generated by the competition will reflect this.

i reckon, the "founders" will still remain in the pl though. they will essentially use it as a reserve league, and put their youngsters in there. it makes sense for all that these teams remain in the pl imo.

all the money will end up in the superleague and the pl will become a shadow of what it is now. the gap in quality between the super league and the pl will be huge, and the salaries of the players will reflect this.

i think the super league scenario could actually be quite good for fans. fans of teams like man utd will surely want their team in the super league, so no issues there. but for the rest of us, this should lead o a dramatic fall in ticket/tv prices to follow our teams.

from this list, real madrid, barcelona, man utd, bayern, juve, liverpool and milan are the truly great teams. city, psg and chelsea have obviously gotten in due to the spending power of their owners in recent years. arsenal, well they have 1 man to thank for the position they find themselves in. their fanbase is so clueless, they probably wont realise this.

The problem with reserve teams is who will show up to watch them, especially when forking out to see the big team?
And what happens if they get relegated, which is likely as the PL will be a cutthroat league just like championship is just now.

I don't believe any of this will happen, its posturing to improve their negotiation position for the direction the club's want the CL to go in.
Only one team of Bayern, barca, Juve, real, and utd, serial league winners can win the new league, why would they put themselves in that situation?

whilst i agree that it is likely just posturing, i do think it may be an inevitability in the long term.

i think you'd likely get full stadiums for the founders' reserve teams. tickets would likely be cheaper, and youd probably get a different demographic attending the domestic games (much the like carling cup games).

the founders could get relegated form the domestic leagues, but i dont think they will. once the breakaway happens, the distribution of money will change completely, and this will mean that even the reserve teams will be head and shoulders above the domestic teams.

dont think it matters that only 1 of those teams can win in any given year. the prestige comes from being part of the breakaway league. look at arsenal - havent won brick in years, but they are undoubtedly a massive club. same with liverpool, and looking the same possibly with united.
 
Quickly - change the european cups back to knockout with only champions competing in the top one.

And the government should tighten the criteria for giving their players visa’s.

And then supertax them.

Richard Scudamore: Premier League clubs asked for £250,000 towards £5m bonus

All 20 Premier League clubs have been asked for a £250,000 contribution so that the league's outgoing executive chairman Richard Scudamore can be given a £5m farewell gift.

The clubs were asked for the money before a meeting on Tuesday.

It is expected they will agree to Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck's request.

Scudamore, 59, who is reportedly paid £2.5m per season, is stepping down next month after 19 years at the organisation.

The league's UK television rights were valued at around £670m when he joined, and the last deal was worth £5.14bn.

Buck, who has developed a close friendship with Scudamore since becoming Chelsea chairman in 2003, received backing from top-flight clubs during a meeting at Premier League headquarters in London.

Should every club contribute, the outgoing boss will receive an additional £5m windfall as a token of appreciation for his successful tenure.

On Thursday the Premier League announced that Susanna Dinnage will be its new chief executive.

Dinnage joins from media organisation Discovery, where she was the global president of the Animal Planet channel.

Scudamore joined the Premier League in November 1999 as chief executive before becoming executive chairman in June 2014.

The top-flight clubs have agreed to split his role and will now search for a non-executive chair.

I actually think the domestic league would be much more interesting without those clubs, honestly not sure Id miss them.

And the Super League? I really dont think they have thought it through. It is inevitable a bunch of these "european giants" will get their ass handed to them and finish at the bottom.

They will all lose far more than they do now, and all but a few wont even been near the top.

Which I cant help but find really amusing, I wonder how their ego will take it?

The one thing I realise when they talk about the super league is in most of these countries away support is not really a big thing ... It's trying to be a nfl of football no surprises if and when franchise man u moves to dubai, would the majority of their supporters care if they are in Manchester or dubai
 
There could well be reasonable away support on the continent, but really I think it will be minimal.

They would be rich, but losing games, playing to empty crowds and tourists, and IMHO more and more just to a TV audience.

Who will likely pass on it once the novelty fades.

I really think itll be a disaster!
