Early days for Llorente but he seems to slow for our style. Never at the right place at the right time. Janssen is quicker and holds the ball better.
tall immobile guy (lukaku) to speedy player (martial) into space behind defenders. hope we learnt something yesterday.
I don't believe it's Llorente that's the problem - more the rest of the team don't seem able to adapt to his strengths when he's on the pitch!! He's clearly not a great runner off the ball, but his strengths are more holding play up and allowing the likes of Son and Alli to get up and support or pick up the knock downs / second ball. T do this however, we need to target him in the box aerially, something we seem incapable of doing when he's on.
He was, as 'they' say, scoring for fun (and money).Totally agree with this. I am getting very frustrated that when Llorente is playing we continually fail to get crosses into the box for him to attack. On Saturday there was only one attempt to cross from wide (from Toby I think) and this cross failed to get past the first man. If Llorente is going to play we must play to his ability to win the ball in the air and adapt our play.
It was interesting at Swansea last year that Llorente only started scoring freely once Tom Carroll moved to Swansea and was swinging in early crosses from the left wing.
I think he's saving his brain for later years.

A few more crosses and more games.
Agreed. I hoped we bought an experienced guy who could come on a do a job, but the job he seems to do is guy who lets the ball bounce off him who runs like he's just finished a marathon. I'd rather have VJ, who also didn't score but bustled about and drew fouls and could (at times) hold up the ball.Very poor in his cameo today. The one thing he needed to do is hold the ball up and help calm the match down, but he barely retained possession at all.
Such a weird transfer, I honestly think Jansen showed enough to persevere with in terms of his all round game and was confident the goals would have come. He seems far more mobile than Llorente....
Llorente is a better all round player, some of his touches, flicks are amazing, he's just off the pace of his teammates.
The reason he is ahead of Jansen, is Jansen is always under pressure, he has to prove himself, that panic doesn't help the team. Llorente at Madrid shows exactly why he was bought, calm head in dressing room, proven winner, under no real personal pressure.
