That's really interesting. Good insight into AVB's mind for a start which, for as much as I was a huge fan of him at the time, just brings home that Poch is everything he was supposed to be and more.

On the point of 'we could have had a title winning team' that VDV makes, I do get it. I'm sure Levy got it too. We have great players here, let's spend more, lets increase the wage structure, and lets win a title. But what Levy has always guarded against is just going for instant success. We could have won a title but doing it in an unsustainable way could mean we then drop to 10th ala Chelsea last year. Levy has done everything he has done to make us challengers at the top level on a consistent basis, so when he leaves us we have the best chance and the best platform of always being there.

In a similar way I think that's how Wenger works - he has gone for the benefits of consistency that mean they never really drop so far out of the top 4 even though they probably could have won a title themselves if they'd done things a little differently. But I think Wenger has fallen down because other clubs have caught up with him now. It's no longer enough to be consistent when there are at least 4 better teams.

But I think it's a point worth making though - going for an immediate win may not be the best long term play. In Arsenal's case, they've screwed it a bit because they've had the stadium that was supposed to allow them to compete long term for a little while now, but they continue to employ the manager that doesn't want to let them take advantage of it. In our case, Levy is doing everything he can to get us to the point where we can be self sustainable at the top of the table, rather than going for a quick win. I'd take one of the best training grounds, best stadiums, and best young squads in Europe rather than one title and remaining at the old WHL to be honest, because the former scenario gives us the best chance of winning more in the future.
 
Fernando Llorente has described Harry Kane as “one of the best strikers in the world – if not the best”. The Spain World Cup winner, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from Swansea City on transfer deadline day, has now seen Kane’s quality at first hand and he believes the 24-year-old has it all.

Llorente made his Tottenham debut on Wednesday night as an 87th-minute substitute for Kane in the 3-1 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley. It was the latest game in which Kane had played a starring role. His two goals were the headline detail of a remorseless performance and Llorente led the applause as he came off.

“I think he’s awesome,” Llorente said. “He’s one of the best strikers in the world, if not the best. In front of goal, he’s lethal. The truth is that he is in a sweet moment, and we have to make the best of that. He gives us so much. He’s an extremely complete player; he doesn’t just score. In every aspect, he’s very complete.”

Llorente revealed that he joined Tottenham instead of Chelsea after the club’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, made a “last-minute” personal phone call to him.

You know what is so sweet about that, US, Fernando has obviously bought into the plan big time.
From what I seen of serge last night and the winning mentality him and Fernando bring I think we are going to be massive this year.
