Fabrice Muamba

How on Earth have we decended into a world where everyone instantly believes everything they hear on twitter/facebook/internet forums etc from Muamba being 'stable and ok' to a 'Spurs fan running onto the pitch and helping save his life'. The full story soon comes out..........why cant people wait for the truth.

LOL LOL. i'm laughing cause you and i both know that this isnt how the world works.

nice sentiment but low chance of the above happening

You obviously haven't been in randomination this week! A very uplifting transformation took place, I feel quite privileged to have watched it unfold with Steff's help.

Instant burgers, instant coffee, so why not instant news.

It's the McDonalds/Starbucks/BBC News 24/SkyNews effect, sadly

..Although actually to be fair, most people were so shocked at what happened (especially if they there or watching on TV like me) that you just want to know what had ahappened to him. Literally a life or death situation like that people will scramble for any snippt of news and in this case in the hope that he was still alive..

...i have to say I was amazed that we are not sayig RIP right now.

I truly hope Fabrice Muamba recovers.[-o<

first time posting on gg in over a year (but read posts daily, wayyy before the new gg), I'm gutted to see all of this, and even more gutted to see the way people are responding on here. I hope he pulls through, im in the US and wasnt watching the game live due to being at work but my heart goes out to muamba's family/teamates and everyone who was at the lane. I'm staying on this thread to see updates on how he's doing so please keep it appropriate and only confirmed updates (bbc sport and sky stopped updating). before he's a footballer, he's a person with a family/siblings/friends and everything that we have, GHod willing he'll pull through and we'll see him at the lane again (losing 5-0 lol)

Totally understand your reaction mate, but I live in hope...there was something which happened in random this past week which saw an entire thread, and it's contributors, all give decent humanity a chance and show 'fear' the middle finger...seriously mate, it was genuinely awesome...so you never know. I agree, sadly, that this poor fool will probably pay incredibly dearly for whatever happened with his bloody twitter account; I hope somehow, somewhere the opportunity can be taken...wouldn't it be a great tribute to everything the Muambas are going though to see one scared racist find their brain?! here's to hoping mate...

Ah...just saw this...I'm likely over for the end of the season...either at Fulham or maybe early next season, you and I are due a couple of pints and a good ol' duffer's socialist chinwag!!!!!

;-)

We've all succumbed to globalisation to a degree. I like to think I maintain a healthy scepticism though.

Funny you should say this...I find myself not e-reading anymore and making sure I take an hour everyday to enjoy simple time walking the dog...obviously family get a lot, but I cannot sit on the gerbil wheel, it would crush me. I try and sit in your camp with regards to sceptism.

Moving to generally address someone's question earlier as to why the chase for news on Muamba, it is sadly the way of the world. We want everything now and we want answers on everything now. People want answers about what has happened/is happening to Muamba, but the tragic fact is we might not ever really, truly know...some things are beyond our comprehension, and this is certainly one of those moments, thus the rush to try and understand.

It's really mind-bogglingly shocking...

I've never seen a more apt description of me! ;)

I know I've said this before, but it's been on me all day.

Tonight I and watched a 23 year old seemingly healthy athlete have a heart attack, and I had to fudging sit and watch.

I turned up to White Hart Lane today hoping to enjoy my first Spurs game since Chelsea, and hoping to be leaving the ground at about 7:30 singing about going to Wembley.

One minute you're thinking about the final result of a football match, the next you're thinking about whether someone's going to live or die.

Today was a day that will scar me for life.

Im so glad I didn't go today, I broke down crying at home, if I was there I don't think I could have handled it very well. Horrible, horrible day, I'm so pleased that he is still going, kepp fighting Fabrice, all my positive thoughts and vibes are with you, wish I was able to do more.

We worship sport stars and musicians and actors, and there's nothing wrong with it, but our true heroes are the wonderful medics who act so fast to save lives, brilliant job today from them all. The fans were impeccable as well, we are one family and it's great we came together like that.

Also, I think Howard Webb deserves a bit of a mention, I wouldn't have been able to handle that situation as well as he did, he and his team got it spot on.

Off to bed now, thankful that I am able to get into my own bed tonight, reasonably healthy, if not in the greatest state. I hope against all hope that we all wake up to more positive news on Fabrice.

Live with you hopefully rather than scar you.

Disagreed. Everybody is capable of change.

coming from a black guy thats experienced racism first hand violent and subtle, reverse racism as well...i am yet to hear a story from anyone that i know that can truly tell me they really brought about change.

the best you can hope for is for people to go to their own corners and leave each other well alone. tolerate the prescence so to speak

you're kidding ...SERIOUSLY!!!???? someone actually changed their views or they just gave up under pressure?

I have been very upset this evening. It felt to me just the same as watching Hillsborough and Senna happen.

I'm not sure why it seems worse when it involves sport, rather than say some stranger in the street. Maybe because sport is a kind of a celebration of life and vitality, the last place you expect to be hit full-on by mortality.

Very well said mate, nail on head with regards to sport too, helped me answer my own question about it...

I think you have a pragmatic view on life Affo, and I would like to believe that your statement would be different had you grown up under different circumstances. My belief is that for people to be able to change they need peace (in all means), as simple as that. Therefore it is wrong to say people don’t change. I have worked as a social worker and a teacher and have held other positions where I have witnessed profound change in people. It happens all the time.

Anyways, shocked to see what happened tonight and like almost everyone else I really hope everything goes well although I have my doubts. ?½Critical but stable?? is not a good sign imo.
