FA Cup Thread

Let us all wish our congratulations to Arsenal for winning their first trophy in 9 years =D>! Maybe this will force us to be more ambitious in winning a trophy or two from now on.

Don't think that's true. I believe in the FA Cup the runners up will get Europe ahead of the league position. The only way it would have gone down to 7th is if Emirates Marketing Project played Arsenal and both had already qualified for Europe.

Correct Diego.

I doubt, but, is the battle on now for United, Everton or Spurs to try and finish 7th??

Might sound daft. but a couple of seasons when we were in the running to finish 5th alongside Liverpool, we played at Anfield 2 games from the end of the season IIRC, winner got EL, loser missed out. We won 2-1, when do ever win there?

The cynical side of me says they didnt fancy finishing 5th and let us win. The sensible side of me says a club like Liverpool wouldnt do that and we outplayed them good and proper

It aint over until Adele starts singing. Even if they get past Wigan, which is no given yet, I'm banking on Tommy to hit a screamer in stoppage time to win it

Come on ! Don't cheat yourself. Arsenal have been gifted a golden chance to win a trophy for yet another time. They are not going to waste it this time. Can you really see Wigan, Hull or Sheffield United stopping them ?

Probably not, but we live in hope

@SpursOfficial: On this day in 1995: Jurgen Klinsmann nets the winner in a 2-1 victory at Anfield as Spurs advance to the FA Cup semi-finals #COYS \o/

A shame that we then went on to lose the SF to Everton before swapping Klinsmann for Armstrong that summer #-o

Apart from 1991, I have never been so convinced we were going to win the FA Cup in any given season than that one.

After originally been banned from it, then getting reinstated, we drew non-league Altrincham in the 3rd round, then we had 'that match' at Southampton, followed by the above win at Anfield.
I mean we never ever won at Anfield did we? But once Klinsmann scored the winner at the death I was 100% convinced our name was on the cup. (And boy did I get p#ssed that night)
For me that semi at Everton had been a foregone conclusion we couldnt lose...and that my friends was probably the day I found out that when you are a Tottenham fan, there will never ever be stone-cold certainties

edit: And Sheringham/Klinsmann..what a partnership? =D>

Sheringham, easily in my Top 3 favourite players. He could make almost any one of his strike partners look like world beaters. Didn't Jurgen state that he was the best strike partner he'd ever played with?

Same here. Was genuinely shocked at the hammering Everton gave us, but did teach a fairly young me a valuable lesson I guess.

Yes he did. Shame we only got the 1 season out of them.

Remember the everton game first of all we were shafted in that the game was played up in leeds and not at villa park, then we missed some sitters, remember howells missing one and everton going up the pitch and scoring in the very next minute...i think they caught us on the break for every single goal i believe.........horrible horrible game,so many semi final losses you lose track after a while !!!

But saying that, was there in '87 at villa park,me and a mate only decided at 11am to go up from Swansea, got there at 2.50,game was all ticket but just walked up the turnstyle offered him a tenner and we were in......brilliant day knowing we couldn't lose with clive allen scoring for fun, jumping around in the holte end.

And then the final..........the comedown........... fecking hell......

Re: Lets not laugh at the Woolwich Nomads 2013/2014

Get on Wigan at 6/1

Arsenal are facing a mounting injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Wigan with as many as 11 players potentially unavailable.

Arsene Wenger confirmed today that Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tomas Rosicky are all “at the moment unavailable” but he will give the trio as much time as possible to prove their fitness.

It is understood that Oxlade-Chamberlain has the best chance of recovery from what is believed to be a slight groin problem but Rosicky, who has a thigh injury, and Gibbs are major doubts to face the Championship club.

Arsenal are already without Mathieu Flamini through suspension, while Laurent Koscielny and Mesut Ozil are also sidelined but set to return next week from calf and hamstring problems respectively.

Jack Wheelchair, Theo Walcott, Abou Diaby, Serge Gnabry and Nicklas Bendtner remain injured but Wenger was at least boosted by the news that Aaron Ramsey is in line for his first start since Boxing Day following a second-half cameo in last weekend’s defeat at Everton.

Wigan were 20/1 to beat City....Scum in disarray.....never seen Wenger so downbeat in post match interview after Everton game. Looking forward to this!

unfortunately i think this is going to be the case. you can back arsenal at 1/2 to soften the pain somewhat today.
