OK. Really hope we send a second string to the away game. Assuming Aurier leaves and Ndombele is still AWOL, we can put out a decent team (CF aside) without playing kids. This team would have 7 internationals in it and would leave a first choice 11 for the Everton game before it. I assume we wouldnt quite segment it like that, but it does show that we should be able to change a lot for the first couple rounds
Hart, Tanganga, Foyth, Sanchez, Cirkin, Winks, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Lamela, Sessegnon, [new CF]
Ahead of tomorrow's draw for the 3rd qualifying round, as with today's draw UEFA have divided the teams into smaller groups. Here is the group containing Tottenham:
Seeded
1 Bala Town (WAL) or Standard Liège (BEL)
2 Rostov (RUS)
3 Lokomotiv Plovdiv (BUL) or Tottenham (ENG)
Unseeded
4 Botoşani (ROU) or Shkëndija (MKD)
5 Maccabi Haifa (ISR) or Željezničar (BIH) or Kairat Almaty (KAZ)
6 Vojvodina (SRB)
Anything other than a trip to Borat country is OKHopefully we get a home game. But knowing our luck we end up with a trip Almaty!
And we wouldn't have to worry about the next round or fixture congestion.
So be it if thats the case, but that sort of team would be good enough. Plovdiv came 5th in the Bulgarian league last year
Better than going to Israel or Kazakhstan though
The issue with the away games is that it leaves us no preparation time between fixtures and we have to decide who will be involved in the game earlier.

I agree, but I think we can get through with the sort of team which I posted on the last page (Hart, Tanganga, Foyth, Sanchez, Cirkin, Winks, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Lamela, Sessegnon, [new CF]) and possibly even sending Ledley with the team rather than Jose. On a Tues, pick the teams for the Thurs and Sunday - sure, there might need to be a late change or two and perhaps there might be a couple players who played both games but we should be able to survive it

Its very risky doing that away even against pub teams as our side is disjointed and lacking in goals, whereas our opponents are in their element playing at home in the biggest game of their lives.
Okay no lunatic eastern European crowd helps us but its a sizeable risk nonetheless and is why home draws are so important in this one off game format if we want to mix the team up, as our disjointed team would at least have that familiarity at home.
As it is we may have to go fairly strong in these two games unfortunately, unless we are fairly content with the idea of writing this competition off.
Its a risk I agree, but its a case of prioritisation. Even if we sent our entire first 11, there would still be a risk we could lose. If we sent our Under 23s, the risk would be very high. The names I put above contain 7 internationals was somewhere in the middle and would help get the squad match fit. I think the only part of the team which I posted which looks weak is the back 4, which is very inexperienced. Include Dier or Toby in for Foyth and obviously add a CF, but then I think its good enough whilst also giving us the best chance of getting off to a good start in the PL. Will be interesting to see how strong Jose goes
