Etienne Capoue

Most definitely a deliberate fall to stop Capoue. Probably didn't intend to injure him though, but the foul was professional.

Etienne Capoue has this morning (Monday) undergone an MR scan which has revealed the midfielder suffered an ankle sprain against Arsenal on Sunday.

The recent signing from Toulouse was injured after 72 minutes at the Emirates Stadium and was immediately taken to hospital to consult with a Foot and Ankle specialist. Early indications suggest the France international will be unavailable for a period of four weeks.

And we don't have a game for two weeks anyway.. Hopefully it will also mean that we only play two of Sandro, Dembele and Paulinho in the next couple and get some creativity in with Eriksen.

I think we are all at risk of forgetting which club this is... who knows what four weeks will actually mean..

Thats very good news

It is in a sense, as it could have the season, Bearing in mind there's no game for 2 weeks, it gets even better. Plus the other int break in October, should see him back for the Villa or Hull game late OCt

Good news. Two weeks until the next game and he'll be training again in 3 weeks is my guess.

Bit worried by the extent of his reaction though if that was just a sprain!!

Different people have different thresholds for pain. Capoue it seems is in the Gomes end of the spectrum.

Good news it is only 4 weeks

But note I actually think his absence will work in our/Dembele's favour; it could force Dembele to sit deep with Sandro with instructions to shield the back 4 and not a lot else. Let the front 4 do the attacking (plus the fullbacks giving width) going gung-ho and let Sandro/Dembele shield the centre backs.

Very surprised it's only four weeks, even if in Spurs physio time. With our other options there is no need to rush him back so he can fully recover before playing.

As for the reaction, it could have just really hurt as others have suggested. It could also have had a psychological element with him panicking that it was worse that it was, a bad injury after his big move in a world cup year.

I feared the worst there. Genuinely happy at this news. The lad deserves a chance to both win a place in our side and play his way into the France squad, and I'd hate for him to lose out on both those things just because some nasty little c**t slyly put his full weight on Capoue's exposed leg.
