I swear, Cleopatra herself could reincarnate and then proceed to offer £10K and free blowjobs from mermaids to the whole forum and there would still be an argument about the quality of fish.

lol.... I like the forum....differing opinions especially when people back up their views (respectfully) makes this an excellent place....

shame it goes to far sometimes but oh well.......

i dont understand why we are buying so many mids

we dont need all these centre mids?

unless this chap is better than our starting mids i think we are sorted in that category

in every club there is a clear heirachy. You cant get so many players on equal exposure/ marketability / ability and expect a harmonious dressing room.

only team that can do that is mardid, barca, bayern and city....

Runnnnnn AS...SAVE YOURSELF........just runnnnnnnnn.

Excited about this, seems like a great option to have IMO, would give us a massive :barnet: pool of midfielders to choose from. Parker and one of Hudd or Livermore to go, taking some wages with them.

Also, I find it very amusing that Sky feel they need to put this line as the last in the article linking us to him; "But it is the future of an existing Totenham player that continues to make the headlines, as Gareth Bale continues to be heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid." C*nts.

Is it not good also though to have real competition for positions? Where no one can slack off or they can be replaced by someone with equal quality? That would lessen the chances of a slump anytime in the season surely?

Can't believe people are against this move. I'm sure we are still looking for a centre back.

I'm sorry but for the last few years weve been so reliant on our first XI as the drop off in quality is significant - we play our strongest XI all the time and burn them out. Look at Man U, City and Chelsea, they rotate without significant drop in quality. We don't as Sandro & Dembele are much better than Parker & Hudd and we suffered when they were out. We played so much with Parker for the second part of the season people forget how strong we looked with Dembele & Sandro together. Man U away, smashing Fulham 3-0 away, we went on an amazing run.

Having a pool of Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho and Capoue is STUNNING means we can maintain a strong spine while resting and covering from injuries. The fact he can cover centre back is a bonus!

It's pretty simple to answer why we have bought a midfielder; it's because we plan on selling some.

As a club, we are hopefully trying to aim at challenging for the title, and the only way we can do that is to have a quality squad. It was only last season where Sandro picked up an injury that ruled him out for the whole campaign. Parker didn't do a good enough job in his place.

Likewise, Dembele could have done with being rested/rotated a lot more last season. He was run into the ground and his performances dipped as a result, imo. But we didn't really have the players to rely on, especially with Sandro already missing. We had no other 'presence' in midfield to call upon.

It seems to me that we are trying to build a squad whereby we can keep playing the same way no matter who gets injured/rested/dropped/suspended. Long may we continue to do that.

it would.... but to have like 6 guys without much seperation is verging on ......managerial confusion. If anything it shows he doesnt trust the people he has.

and would you really pay 11 million pounds simply to raise the competition? (actually you would, that wouldnt be bad spending...but i still think its over kills abit)

but even in a system that has a clear seperation in class , within each rank you have i or two people duking it out with the main guy. not 5 or 6 ....waaay to much

you know...this means that parker is out the door. its the only thing i can think of. right now sandro has no real competition. None at all...i think sandro seperated himself from parker last season. the season before it was neck and neck as each displayed certain qualities that the first team needed.......but now? parker had an overall average season...and sandro when he played was amazing as he has always been

i think this capoue kids is contest for sandro ...and an interim CB

still think this is stupid having so many of them

you used three teams that have a wage and transfer budget that when you combine them dwarfs ours. thats not a good comparison...BUT , even if you were to use those three teams...(though city is the worst example to use for anything) which CM do they rotate? and is there a clear distinction in class between the person that replaces the main starter or not? how often do they even rotate really?

It does look like we are overloading in that area, I get that side of the coin, I believe Hudd & Parker are most definitely gone permanently, Carrol & Livermore on loan.

I think we do need lots of centre mids going by how devastating last season was in losing Sandro, I think Capoue is at the same level as Sandro and while we love that guy none of us can be sure how well he will do until he physical & mentally recovers from his injury.

In terms of the last statement I do not think this guy will kill us in the wages department.

I can understand the logic of all 4 deals especially Soldado obviously as that was the most desperate need.....our transfer machine is looking like a well oiled machine......and in terms as long as we can afford it.....long may it continue.

the last line isnt only about wages, though that plays a big part. its wage and prestige......you can get away with stuff like this at might household clubs

if we are losing parker, thudd, carrol AND livermore then yes it makes sense...but not if we are keeping those guys

its funny but you mention FOUR cm's and yet even before you get to the main starters you have siggy and holtby...and then you have sandro, paulie and dembele..now add caps......thats alot of bodies in that area

have you seen this guy play? is he really on sandro's level? cause i put sandro in the world class category for defensive duties. if this caps guy is as good as sandro then all we need to do is play both him and sandro in holding roles and we will never lose a game

Not sure people are complaining about this particular signing than concerned that maybe we need a bit of creative force first and foremost. We have a striker which we were all desperate for but if you dont have that creative intelligence to break down stubborn teams you may leave yourself short. Thats why we were excellent away from home but at home we had struggled.

Anyways, I expect for the price we paid of 11m euros we would end up shipping out Hudd and Parker which means around 7m in plus wages saved - combined it pays for the signing. I dont se it as a bad thing in all honesty. I expect a few more outgoings - likes of Hudd, Parker, Livermore, Ade maybe, Bale maybe ;)

the same questions have been asked/countered and asked again for the last 3 or 4 hours ](*,)

ah right, at least someone asked.....its odd, we need an eye catching creative mid option that can play in tight quarters in the final third, cause oddly enough...thats the one position that we DO NOT HAVE AT ALL, and this despite the fact that liverpool have one, arsenal, city, united, chelsea, ,,,we dont have any. but we get more defensive and central midfield players. odd

i know that according to the text books and stats...if you control the midfield the you control the game...and then your chances of winning go up exponentially....but damn...get that mother fudging penetrator

It wouldn't be making any headlines if those journo ****s stopped making things up.

I kinda said exactly that and it didn't get the best responses:lol:

you saying we have too many midfielders and not enough , oh say, fit cb's or attacking mids / wing forwards....didnt get the best responses ??

it probably your avatar...do you know how much i want to punch my plasma when i see him on the telly?

i guess, with regards to creativity, we're going down the blow our opponents away with quick direct play backed up with strength and power route - there was an article posted in the Soldado thread yesterday or the day before i believe that spoke about AVBs style at Porto and how they were relentless in getting the ball through to the forwards directly wave after wave ... ive been waiting for a Modric replacement since he left but perhaps there is more than one way to skin a cat after all.

but i do think that with the trio of Holtby/Carroll and Sigurdsson we possibly have enough in there for a fall back option, im still undecided as to whether one of them will be a regular alongside two of the more powerful options though. think we're gearing up for an interesting season and ALOT of tactical discussion (ie arguments) here on GG

What strikes me is that all the players we are bringing in is much more of a goal treath than the players they are competing against. For example, Chadli/Lennon, Capoue/Sandro, Paulinho/Dembele and so on.
