I was referring to how it seemed you'd already written off the Werner signing, adding him as the end of a sentiment which started 'clubs get signings wrong all the time'.
We will never agree on Dier mate.

have to say that is a great move for him and we get £4m for a player who would have run his contract down.

There's some very good work going on at the club on the recruitment front this month - we've just removed £300k from our wage bill (Lloris and Dier) and improved the squad along the way.

Good luck Mr Dier, you will always be welcome back at the Lane.
 
Apart of the glorious group of players who brought us those amazing seasons under Poch.

I'll always remember his debut goal, his care for the shirt and his contribution to the battle of the bridge.

Obviously much more to him than that, but a great servant and a great person by all accounts. Best of luck Eric.

“I think that he is more or less a specialsit in the central defensive role. He’s played as a holding midfielder in the past. He can play as part of a back four and three at the back so we can fre up Goretzka in midfield so he doesn’t have to switch between playing as a No 8 and being deeper.

“We’re still focusing on other positions and we’ll see if anything else happens.”

Was fantastic under Poch. But has never been the quickest of thought somehow. His anticipation and reading of the game compared to Royal or Davies say, is sub par. Felt like he never found his position. Poch used him as a utility player and he never specialised and cermented his role since. Been a loyal servant and will always be welcomed back. His dash into the crowd to chin someone was a memorable moment!
 
I know some will see this as a happy day, I don't. Very sad albeit necessary and a good result for all.

Dier has been a really good player for us. Never had the tools to be truly elite but, a bit like Harry Maguire, he's become a bit of a meme-player who is easy to kick despite being a bloody good footballer particularly in the right team. Always liked him as a player and as a pro/person (from what I saw of him) and it's sad to lose another of the final pieces of the Poch jigsaw as they were my happiest days as a fan.

It feels a bit like this was more acrimonious than Lloris' departure. I guess Hugo was at the end of his career whereas Dier may feel he was excluded when he still had much to offer. It's tough but like Poch said years ago, rebuilds are painful and as Ange said, you can't effect change without making changes and Dier was a necessary casualty given what Ange wants.

Whatever has happened, I hope he'll always hold us in high regard because I think as a club, we'll always hold him in high regard.
