That’s Barcelona’s fault for paying over the odds. If Levy got £100m for Brennan Johnson you’d be lauding him.
I'd take everything i've said about him being a poor footballing chairman back.
It's not revised thought when people here were laughing at the fee paid at the time.
I thought they were massively overpaying and although I never thought Coutinho to be anywhere near as good as he was being made out to be at the time he was still a good player. 70m-80m odd would have been a fair price considering his form at the time.

It was great business on Liverpool's part to take that hot form and turn it into a massive profit and the basis for adding the final parts to make them a CL and League title winning side.

It's that sort of business I wish we did. I likewise always thought Dele and Eriksen rather overrated from Spurs fans and would have happily taken an inflated fee for them at their zeniths to reinvest and keep the team improving.

That's not the part (jurgen actually agrees with you on the overpaying) that he's declaring revisionism on.
There's plenty here that always thought he was a highlight reel player. I know for a fact @Baleforce agreed with me then, can't remember the others.

He scored a spectacular goal every now and then, but it was 1 in about 50 shots. The fastest way to give your opponent a goal kick is to give the ball to Coutinho.

I agree they overpaid for him but he wasn’t a poor player for Liverpool, that’s the part I’m saying is revisionism. He was their best player before they signed the likes of Salah and Van Dijk and was a big reason why they got back into the top 4 under Klopp.
He was a highlights merchant.

Took about 20 shots a game and scored every 4th match.

£70-80m would have been massively overpaying too. That's Gareth Bale money.

Any more than £20m was a waste - and I wouldn't have wanted him for that.

Baleforce agrees with you that a Liverpool player is overrated what a shocker 😂 he probably thinks Salah is overrated too. That’s like asking a turkey for a balanced opinion about Bernard Matthews.

Just someone else who doesn't fall for the hype.

1 goal every 4 games and 1 assist every 5 are not elite player numbers.

Even more impressive that Liverpool got so much money for him then. Honestly you’d think they hypnotised the Barcelona board judging by the reaction to fee. Other clubs fans get annoyed when Levy rinses the top clubs for our players but it’s somehow dodgy when other English clubs do it 😂

He doesn’t really value players who can pass, shoot or score a goal. He prefers triers with not much quality like Richarlison. And as mentioned previously, he’s never going to openly admit that a Liverpool player (past or present) is good at football.

Imagine if we had had the foresight to sell Alli given how his career has panned out. Would have required a crystal ball but it’s really sad how far he has fallen.
