It's not necessarily Munn picking Ange that worries me (I suspect we had several names in the frame before we settled for Ange).

It is the fact that he hasn't proven himself at the top level. We should be taking somebody great from a big club with a history of doing very good things.

To an extent, but the 4 walls of the club dictates what someone does as a success as much as the person. Thats why people why in many cases people who have been a success in one club struggle to do it somewhere else.

I would imagine there are a number of factors at Spurs that impact many doing their job, one of which would be the echo chamber around Levy created by Cullen

I think we’ve largely burned that boat with Mourinho and Conte. Nuno only ended up here (allegedly as 6th choice?) because we were turned down by so many. Slot said no. I think we’re viewed as a bit of a career graveyard by managers now, hence why we’ll likely end up with a Silva or Frank. I’m not convinced Irarola would come.

The better question to ask is where we would be now if we hadn't completely neglected the whole recruitment structure for years. We cut this down to the bone and then reaped what we sowed. It was gross negligence that we've still not fully recovered from.
In the top echelon of European football having won numerous trophies
To dare is to do and all that !!

I've got no idea. I would just hope that the club had more ambition than bringing in somebody who was running a football operation in Asia.

I agree. Considering Levy sacked Mourinho only a few days before a Cup final it is strange that Ange is still in position. I can only think that back then Levy didn't realise how painful it would be to appoint a new manager (the farce of a search that ended in Nuno) but now knows we're not particularly attractive to new managers.

I wasn't referring to managers in my post though, I meant in terms of head of football operations/DoF/Technical Director type roles.

Why? Asia is probably the biggest market.

Yes, on financial terms absolutely.
It isn't where the biggest and most successful clubs globally are.
When you think currently of the biggest/best clubs in football (and the DOFs that work there) you don't think of Asia.

I think appointing Munn probably is a reflection of how we are seen as a club in football terms: those closer to our shores who are ambitious now see past the "we are an ambitious club" bs and so don't fall for it, hence we have to cast the net further and wider beyond UK/Top European leagues..

Is it his role? He's not a dof. He's more business.

His major role is to streamline and implement structural changes to the footballing operation that maximises the clubs potential, which means youth players having a correct pathway to the first team, therefore having the two on the same page. In that respect I think he is doign a very very good job.

The new guy will assume the commercial and business role left by Todd Klein and have a more senior role.

The mark against Munn is Ange of course, but there isnt anyone in that role in world football that hasn't made a mistake in management appointments. I think the biggest criticism will be sticking with the mistake, but then everything at Spurs is done by committee so that blame is also shared.

Lange has done the job asked of him despite people having a pop on social media because he is not as out there and cool as Fab, but he buys within the resources allowed and has done so following the youth model presented to him as the way forward.

So what would paraticis role be if he came back?
