Friend of mine was in a box on Sunday at the match and Martin Chivers told him that Adebayor told AVB that he didnt want to play in the Europa League (why did you sign for us then you doughnut?). We are meant to believe that he is currently injured but it might be that AVB doesnt want him in the side at the moment due to his attitude. Obviously if this is correct then that is shocking.
Be interesting to see if Adebayor plays him in the Cup tomorrow night as we need to give Defoe a rest.

To be fair though he is good mates with Benny and we know he doesn't have any respect for the Europa League. I doubt our players do in general. Fans like it as it offers a chance of silverware but, to players it's almost like saying you are second tier. Look at the half arsed performances by City and Utd last season. Whether this information is from a valid source or not I suspect it has some truth, but it would be the same for most players at clubs with top 4 ambitions. Fans wont accept it and will probably try and deny it, but it just isn't a competition that excites players. If we played in an easier league then it would probably mean more to the players, but a top 4 spot in the Prem is just so incredibly tough, both mentally and physically, it must be hard to excited by the Europa league.
VdV seemed pretty gutted to be missing out last season when he wasn't included in the squad and the players at A.Madrid obviously saw it as a worthwhile competition despite many of them being out of our reach.
Emirates Marketing Project and Man United were both in the hunt for the title last season so i can see why they were not be overly up for it but we are not in the hunt for the title and any player who thinks they are above this competition won't be getting my support on the matter (not that i believe it)
