I suspect whoever is dropped from the bench will be somebody not performing at the time; this is assumning Ade will even be fit or good enough to make the next bench anyway

Ade will have to play a couple of blinders in the EL before he's even considered for the bench in the league. For me it's great he's close to being available in case we get injuries up front, but right now Kane is in front in the pecking order.

I think the quotes of AVB regarding Lennon coming back and the non existence of Adebayors quotes says volumes about where Adebayor stands in the scheme of things. I would be very surprised if he makes the bench before the next transfer window opens. When he does it will be more about putting him in the shop window than anything.

AVB is pragmatic. If he thinks his job and/or reputation are on the line and Ade can make a +ve difference to team performance, Ade will be in the starting 11 regardless of history.
Personally I'd play him at home in a 4-4-2.

Great post. I agree with your comments about AVB. Having been a (not football) manager myself I have put up with people I hated because it was in my interest.

I would hope Kane gets in the picture, too but that is a very good point.

Kane is in line to go on loan at QPR. Would be good for him to get constant game time under Harry and hopefully connect with Tom Carroll. My main hope would be that QPR get promoted and Kane + Carroll manage to get season long loans playing for QPR in the prem, would aid their development greatly and obviously help take points off our competitors.

Yeah, I mean Kane really has played some blinders in the EL to get that high in the pecking order.

It's about options, it's about players offering something others can't. What Kane offers we can get to a much greater extent from Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Lamela, Soldado and Defoe (depending on position). Ade offers a different skillset.

I agree he has a different skill set - but whether he is prepared to deploy it ( in a non contract season) or whether AVB is able to get it out of him (as he couldn't last season) are different matters altogether.

Surely this is something AVB will have a decent idea of based on what's going on in training. Obviously if the answer is no to those questions then regardless of who the other options are he shouldn't be in the squad.

He will have a lot of proving to do though. Not just to AVB, but to us fans too.

He was the first choice striker last term because he was our best striker.

If he is good enough he will become our first choice striker again. If not then it will be Soldado. Nothing to prove to some of our fans, just to AVB.

Not to you maybe, but to most of the rest of us he needs to play like he did in his first season with us and not last season.

Please do not assume you speak for the majority. Maybe you do but it is annoying to hear people say "I think I speak for most people when I say..etc"

QPR brought in a striker so do not need him though they have long term injury concerns on zamora and adam johnson but both are meant to be nearing full fitness though i imagine neither will stay like that to the end of the season.

Just because you are in denial over Ade's performances last season, don't assume everyone else is.
