Elon Musk buys twitter

Some 3rd party apps have been locked out today, unclear whether it intentional or not yet.
If the app can dodge the adverts then I'd say it is intentional. Twitter is bleeding advertising revenue.

I'm noticing twitter threads are not working properly. Posts in the thread are also appearing outside the thread too, which fills up your timeline.

Echofon had no adds in the timeline and was very clean . Only tweets of people you follow or their re tweets. No outside adds or suggested brick.

So I think you may be correct in it being intentional.

Yeah, I use Tweetbot, not seeing ads is a main reason why, but mainly it only shows me people I follow in timeline order.

If 3rd party apps don’t work, Twitter is down as far as I’m concerned, the site and official app are a mess, it’s not just ads, they show you random tweets.

From billionaire environmentalists darling to archetype bond villan. How Elon changed his image overnight buying Twitter.

I would have thought that allowing your tech to be used in warfare would be more Bond Villainesq than not wanting it to be used for such?

Depends on your worldview! But an excellent point. Personally I am all for de-escalation. Does ramping up and adding arms, amazing intelligence, and satellites...does it liberate, or just fuel more conflict, death and destruction? It's a fascinating (philosophical) debate without easy answers.

Musk launched Starshield last year which is the war version of starlink. You can see where this is going.

His actions are really erratic!
First it's "sure we'll help you! Here's a load of starlinks."

Then some months later he gets bored and shuts them out.
Seems like he does stuff all the time that isn't thought through at all, and then he has to change it. Happens time and time again.
He doesn't strike me as particularly bright.
Just got lucky and got filthy rich.

We had a similar guy in Norway, who started a telecom company, and got filthy rich from selling it. After that he's tried dozens of things, and everything has gone to brick! Lost about a billion in record time, and has been declared personally bankrupt several times.

TBF thats the oldest story in time when it comes to entrepreneurs, erratic, live on the edge, not afraid to try things, not scared of bankruptcy

I read abit this morning on the Starlink decisions and the quotes from the CEO seem rational TBH. Ukraine still has access for humanitarian actions and connecting families and medical but they won't allow it within escalated conflicts

Why was that not an issue first? It was clear it was for military purposes. And how can they distinguish between those?

Not sure TBH, speaking from a personal perspective I would be wary of providing services that would implicate me in a war, especially if I was as high profile as those guys.

Well, this guy is changing his view more often than I change underwear. Really creepy guy.
He's the epitome of the saying "If you don't like my principles, I have other ones"
