Thank GHod. Imagine if that fool Ramos had stayed, average lightweight footballers like Gio would have played a big part... And we'd have had serious relegation battles.

There is no reason to keep Dos Santos. He's failed at every club, even championship. Lets not get stupid and blame systems, language barriers or poor attitude... Overall he's just not very good.

2nd paragraph is bang on the money

He is still young and obviously has talent. It seems strange not to give him a decent run. And if not, what does it mean for our other young players trying to get in. Why do we even bother with our youth team if we are afraid to give them a chance.

The question is why is he only good for Mexico. Is it because they play a style that suits him, while we don't and haven't given him a run in then team? Or is it because he can raise himself for the occasional game but doesn't have the mentality to work hard throughout a season and earn his starting place? He obviously has talent, but does he have the mentality to succeed?

It would be great if AVB could find a way of utilising his skills. It could be like getting a new player. But chances are, giving him another chance will be instead of getting a new player.

First thing GDS needs to be able to prove is that he can cut it when being closed down fast. International football you have loads of time, Premiership football you do not.

coz he's a lazy so and so that doesnt have the heart to play prem footy. theres a reason no manager can trust him in their team

Lazy? The few opportunities he had last season he worked hard with his defensive duties of closing down etc Doesn't have the heart to play Prem footy? I'd love to see you back that up. No manager can trust him? The only manager not picking him was Redknapp, fair enough he had his reasons but fundamentally there was never a place in his system for him....

Why do people keep saying he's failed everywhere he's been? That's a lazy thing to claim, as lazy as saying he's lazy on the pitch.

Barca - Started a lot of games, there wouldn't have been such hype around us signing him if he'd have failed there. He didn't quite make it there, newsflash: they have some other fairly decent players. Signed off nicely with a hattrick in his last game.

Spurs - He's failed here. He's hardly been afforded many chances - last league start came in Aug 2008.

Ipswich - He did well there, I don't know where this myth has come from that he failed? I think people look at his wiki saying he played 8 games and forget that he was only there for two months. "Oh he only played 8 games, must've failed"

Galatasaray - Ok I have no idea what happened here, the "stats" would say he failed.

Racing - He did well here, I remember watching a couple of his games for them and he was heavily involved in everything they did, I seem to recall him scoring against Barca. They wanted to keep him, but the manager left(to Sevilla) who then wanted to take Gio there, but they couldn't afford him.

Mexico - Most of his best performances have come for the national team, he's seen as their star - ahead of Hernandez.

Spot on mate

Spot on. But I wouldn't bother mate. People seem to dislike dos Santos for some reason, probably because he isn't an overrated British footballer who we should sign instead or someone totally out of our reach like Lewandowski or Hulk so he must be brick.

Agree 100%

Will you admit you're wrong if GDS does get plenty of pitch time under AVB and doesn't perform that well or if we sell him and his career does a Taarabt?

Barca is actually a bad example too, simply because I still don't understand if this guy was rated so highly that they'd let him go.....and so cheaply too!

Because they have even better players, but we aren't Barcelona! Not to mention wasn't there a clause in the contract they had an option to buy him back at some point? They wouldn't of bothered with that for just anyone.....

It's rumoured that Barca and Real both put those in the majority of their transfer deals, as a just in case.

I will admit I am wrong yes. But it's impossible for me to admit anything now as he just hasn't got any time for us. If he does get the games and performs poorly in every single minute of those games then I will hold my hands up and wonder where it all went wrong for a once very highly rated footballer.

You just know he'd leave though and perform.

Well if we don't buy any forwards I can see GDS getting more playing time by default, and most likely in his favoured inside right position.

I have to disagree about the premise that in international football you have loads of time on the ball. It really is not a whole lot different than club football. It just depends who you come up against and the style that they play.
