Dele Alli

This is what you were saying about Ndombele last season. Things can change too quickly and I think that you are too quick to get a downer on our players.

Ndombele has improved pleased, does this mean Dele must be pushed off to say PSG?

I agree but why play players in europa games that you need for the league when you have a player of deles quality available?
Because it’s people on here who get hung up on ‘resting’ players. Poch played players plenty of times who people on here were claiming should be rested,as if stepping onto the pitch automatically means they’re going to be injured or physically unfit for the next game. The managers have all the fitness data and usually have pre planned who is going to be given minutes and when.
Mourinho said yesterday after the game yesterday playing for half an hour was better than an hour and half training or something like that.....

Dele was once untouchable under Pochettino even when he was in bad form. He has to improve and change his game to get into Mourinho's squad. I pray he does.

Dele has a fight on his hands to get into contention for the PL games. It is really up to him if he can meet that challenge.

Unfortunately i don't think it is up to him.

As mentioned in my previous posts he done as much as anyone could in his last start and was then passed over in the next 2 games you'd expect to have seen him play in if management were interested in him as a player.

The writing was on wall when he didn’t get a game on Thursday, not too much any player can do if he is being frozen out.

I doubt Dele will track back enough for Mourinho the same goes for Bale.
Will be interesting to see where Dele ends up.

He was a hard worker under Poch and done more than his fair share of the nitty-gritty so i have a hard time believing this to be a factor.

Ultimately Jose is the boss and it's his call, but so far the arguments from fans trying to justify the situation regarding suitability to the tactics and earning his place don't hold up to scrutiny.

my favourite is it’s a personality clash!

It would be unfair not to mention injuries and the fact that he was played out of position. And to be fair when Jose first arrived Alli picked up his form. For whatever reason Jose doesn’t fancy him now and to be fair, he needed a big kick up the arse. Should have happened under Poch but I felt Poch was too loyal to certain players. If Poch was still here now I reckon Alli would have retained his place and would have seldom been dropped.

Bottom line for me is he hasn’t improved or adapted his game enough to warrant a start. I take the points about him not doing any worse than Moura, Bergwijn etc but those players do work very hard for the team and are both quicker than Alli. Not saying Alli doesn’t work hard though.

I am interested in that, would love to know the breakdown of how much playing half an hour takes out of a player. Think it is why the top managers were pushing for 5 subs per game.

He does work hard and always has done. But and it is purely an observation but I think he gives the ball away to much and Mourinho likes possession based football.

Maybe to you they do not, for others its the main reason he is not playing.

I think Dele will stay as we may need him later in the season. I think the biggest problem for Dele is Lo Celco, who is just a little better on the ball - can dribble better and seems to make more passes stick than Alli. I know Dele is seen as a more advanced player than Lo Celco, but to me they are quite similar. If Lo Celco wasn't in the squad, I think Alli would have more opportunity. Just Lo Celco does what Dele does without losing the ball as much.

Except, as already argued in previous posts he very much is suited to our current tactics, or at least has shown that he's on the right path - that's why in his last start for us in the central creative position at the tip of the central three in midfield he : "got 2 assists and a played a vital roll in a third goal, contributed to general link up play in and around the final third with lots of quick thinking creative passes setting up attacking moves whilst working hard off the ball and was widely praised in every single match report I've read." It was literally a text book performance for that role on the pitch. Fair enough poor opposition but you can only play who you are up against.

If you could explain why you think he actually didn't play well in that game or how he showed himself unsuitable to the tactics maybe I'd see where you're coming from.

If he was as good as you believe then he would play more but we are going around in circles, we will have to agree to disagree as you think he is the player who could play in our system and i do not think he can ( at least at the moment) As i have said earlier we shall see what happens as the season goes on.
