Dele Alli

I dont think Bentaleb is overhyped at all.i think he is just as good as people say he is with a lack of experience in making certain judgement calls in key scenarios

i think bentaleb is great personally

Don't think 19 is that young really, he's prob played almost 100 first team games already, unleash him I say. That's not to say play him every week, horses for courses, but I don't think we need to be too careful with him.

And 88 of those games were played in Div one and he is just 19 so he is young. So I hope Poch is careful with him.

Bentaleb may turn out to be a very good player but he has a long way to go and some overhyped him to the eyeballs. I remember the same thing happening to the likes of Caulker, Livermore, Hudd etc etc and it does not do them any good.

He's got to make the step up at some point. Makes no sense holding him back just because of his age, if he's playing better than his rivals for the spot then play him, we're not talking about a 16/17 year old kid whose not played a first team game before (no matter what level it was played at).

Don't remember anyone hyping up caulker to that extent and certainly not Livermore. Hudd was hyped however and to be fair he was an important part of a team that finished fourth a couple of times, got to the quarters of the champions league and he was on the fringes of the England squad (not just a throw away cap because he was london based), it's not a bad career he's had!

Of course we should play him ( I never said different) but you can play a young player to much as he is still learning and growing. However throwing into a young side ( as it is) and expecting him to hit the ground running could be a mistake.

Having worked with young players for many years you have to be careful how you use them at the top level. Lets blood him and see how he goes but to overplay him at this early stage could do more harm then good.

Well your memory is bad then, Caulker was hyped a England regular by a lot of Spurs fans and so was Livermore. As for Hudd he arrived as a kid and was talked about by people who should know better (MJ and Burley) and likened to be the next FB and a lot of fans did as well.

The big problem was Hudd believed it as well and he is now playing lower level football and I do not see any of the bigger clubs bearing down on his door.

I'm really excited about this boy. Him and Pritchard could be massive for us in the coming years. Let's hope N'Jie adapt and develop as well, and Levy: Buy a CM who can protect and tackle please..

My memory must be bad because I don't remember any of that. Livermore, England regular? Who said that? Lol

Yep you've got to remember he's only 19. A full start isn't the way forward yet. I'd keep bringing him in off the bench. He's only had two appearances in the premier league and you don't want to chuck him in too early. Let him have experiences of watching the games from the bench and ease him in.
I don't think age should be a factor. If the attitude and ability and maturity is there, which it clearly is, that's all that should matter. Embolo is only 18 and he's a starter and tearing it up. Ronaldo did the same at that age. I say start him.

Totally agree - once he realised he couldn't control it, he decided to gamble and follow it in instead. From six yards all you need is a touch towards goal to score.
I think that probably took the GK by surprise too - ordinarily, there is no way the ball should bounce 5 yards out and the keeper not get it.

We need more players that gamble on a "maybe".

Don't know if anyone saw Abel Hernandez score for Hull yesterday - but he gambled on the GK spilling the ball, and was in the right place to get a toe on it to score. If he doesn't gamble, the GK gets away it. Similarly with Alli yesterday.
This. Alexi Lalas always says you have to play the "what if". When attacking it's a gamble without any downside really.

One reason why I'm not 100% happy with Dembele playing atm. He's good for holding on to the ball, but there were times against Leicester when if he just took a risk we might have found a way through in the first half.

And he knows how to celebrate a goal too. Perhaps in hindsight, bearing what happened a minute later, it was a little too much

Nothing wrong with the celebration. Plenty wrong with the defending afterwards. Why the team couldn't just have dug in, defended like solid & saw out a 1-0 win...

Not a dig at Alli, but I just think maybe too many players got involved and caused a loss of focus.

You wouldn't think so from some comments yesterday, but plenty of teams concede soon after scoring, commentators say it all the time, teams are most vulnerable right after they score

Still think that's the players fault. Players should play to the whistle. If they're excite to be winning then work hard. Nothing wrong with the celebrations, always the mindset that needs to be assessed. We have too many weak willed players, we need a team of fighters, players willing to give their all for victory. Instead we have a team of players who have an 'after you' mentality to defending. Let other team players defend.

He might be young but he showed focus and determination when he came on. He also proved that he is one of the few mid-fielders we have that will run ahead of Kane which is very important considering how isolated Kane has been for large parts of this season
