Dele Alli

Personally I would like to see our players doing well for both club and country.
Don't get this anti England rubbish!

It's mainly that qualification is completely pointless because the ranking system mean it's so rigged. It's 7 or 8 completely pointless matches a year. Worse than any EL group games

I don't mind Southgate, but before him England also had a procession of 18 years of donkey managers who you wouldn't want infecting your players with bad habits.

Hope he does get banned for a couple of games, as others said he can get a rest. Maybe take that bird of his away for a days for a bit of R & R.

He can play for England in the summer till then the bitch as mine.

Qualifications are a drag but it's the way FIFA is currently weeding the numbers down, only when they have themselves increased the number of nation taking part. which is as you say a little bit of a waste of time.

I think the current England setup is far better than the Cappello and Sven managed eras.
Southgate is at least a logical and pragmatic choice!

When I was 20 I was a punk kid and a bit of a dingdonghead, to be quite honest.

Alli is a young man, millionaire, centre of attention having been brought up in a bubble and told how special he is every single day. He is also used to thousands of eyes on him at any given time as he has been a first team regular for years now (since 17?).

Not making excuses for him, just pointing out the reality - is it any surprise if his behaviour isnt always great?

The key is whether or not he learns from it. I think, generally, he has developed after each incident he has had.

Well with any luck you will grow out of it.

Alli is at least 20yrs old. Are we saying that a 20yr old shouldnt know how to behave?
Yes, I think we are.

First of all from a purely biological point of view the brain of a 20 year old is still developing. Particularly the frontal cortex associated with stuff like inhibition, decision making, emotional regulation etc. No coincidence.

Second the behaviour we're asking for from top athletes in big sports is in some ways at the extreme of human experience. Pressure, money, fame, fans, haters, confidence, inadequacy and so on and so on. Mistakes will happen.

to play devils advocate a bit (I think he is a nob for sticking his fingers up) - you can read lips / hear players / managers swearing at each other all the time, a lot worse than sticking a finger up - other than the unique nature (and visuals) of it seems a bit of an unequal reaction to the thing.
