Dear oh dear Ed Milliband, what a joke of a man !!!

Scara, I'm going to get involved in this abomination of a thread purely because of previous posts. Are you sure you don't have Aspergers? Or at least checked yourself out for it?

Yeah, very sure. As explained above I already have a diagnosis and it couldn't be further from it.

Didn't know about this when I started posting.

It's behind a paywall, but I think you'll get the gist. Was this common knowledge? Is he so boring that I didn't even notice this?

In less then 12 months Ed Balls will be in charge of the economy.

That is a bigger issue to me then the fact that the other ed looks odd eating a bacon sandwich.

I wonder whether they would have even taken issue with the recent demand from the EU for more money from us, not because our economy grew under the tories but because we made some cuts and took a little of the medicine required while other countries did not. If people think ed can stand up for the British tax payers interests then they should vote for him.

Had Labour been in power we wouldn't have received the Bill we'd have joined Greece in begging for a handout as our economy would've collapsed under their economic policy of "We have a big debt let's borrow more to pay it off".

That is the most frightening thought of the day. This is the man who advised Brown to sell the Gold reserves because the price would never go up.

That's all very well, but until they change the voting system from FPTP to proper PR, then the only votes that will decide the election will be those in marginals.

Labour will squeak in with a small majority anyway, so it won't matter.

So, you think your vote makes no difference? If you and the other 50+% who don't vote actually did you would see a lot of safe seats become marginal and marginal seats change hands.

Hmm this is exactly what Gideon is doing right now.

I hope scara will not mind me saying this, but I think conflating being an arrogant, elitist pr*ick with aspergers is a tad bit silly.

:-"

How has he cleared the debt ? He has added to it. Even the Tories admit that.

What they're doing is, over time, reducing the rate at which that debt is being added to. That's what a deficit is and it's being reduced.

Eventually the amount that debt is being added to will get below zero and we can start reducing the debt.

You really can't be blaming the Conservatives for the fact that we're massively in debt or that there's a huge deficit. That was your lot's doing in an attempt to create an army of welfare state voting drones.

Utter crap and factually wrong. The deficit has been added to in the last year by 10 per cent.

Second point is also wrong, the debt came about because we had to bail out the banks to the point of 1.4 trillion. Same happened in the States,do you also think that Bush is a 'trot' as well ?

While I agree with you mate about the bail out of the banks, you can not really blame the tories for the debt continuing to go up, because who ever won the last election it would have happened. The argument would be on who should have to be burdened with repaying the debt.

The fact that we bailed out the banks and they continue to hand out million pound bonuses is pathetic. But when your so far in debt unless the is a sudden increase in tax receipts then you need to increase taxes and make cuts. Some may disagree on the tax cuts and who it affected most. But the debt was always going to rise no matter who was in power.

I am worried then when the deficit is paid off that who ever is in government will not look to pay off the debt but "forget" about it. So if the tories were to win they would not increase the pension age as is necessary so as not to **** off their core vote. If Labour win they would increase welfare so as to appease their core vote.

You and I are quite similar, we do not share the same view on politics but I think we both believe the main stream parties are not the answer.

You know what I agree with almost all of this. However the Government promised to clear the deficit in this parliament. Clear it. They have not even got close. They knew they would not even get close.

The Labour party needs to be braver, needs to be stronger. At the moment it is not the answer, but it should be.

Your not saying a Government lied to it's people are you:D

If we could find a way to increase money into the coffers of the country so cuts were not necessary I would be all for it.

Might sound funny from someone who is of the right side of the spectrum but personally I would cut the armed forces budget massively, despite my love of history that is what it is for me. A bloke on newsnight this week said that he doubted Britain would ever put boots on the ground in a big conflict again, he was some American general. Was not being deliberately provocative either just saying it as he saw it.

Well I agree with him and I guess the accusation of being an isolationist could be thrown at me but when it comes to wars and stuff lets use our geography to our advantage and keep our noses out. I feel sad when stuff goes on in the world that should not but that is what NATO is for.

When it comes to trade I think we should use our historical knowledge to trade with the whole world like we have done for centuries but as for the wars and stuff, let the yanks and Chinese worry about all that crap, we would save a fortune in the process.
