He was ok today i thought
I thought Sanchez did well, until Gundogan ran onto the through ball and just bumped him out of the way like a small lettuce.
Any other centre back in the league would have smashed Gundogan, but not our Davvo.
I thought he had a decent game as well, he was shoved in the back for the goal and it could/should have been a foul imo
You can do that sometimesWe are not able to “bin” this or that player in the current financial climate.
We need to coach them into better form.
He was our best player yesterday up to the third goal. Made two unbelievable blocks in the first half and him and Dier defended very well. Time and again they didn’t commit and forced city to shoot from distance. His distribution, normally a glaring weak spot, was also decent.
I don’t agree he was fouled for the goal. It just highlighted all that’s wrong with Sanchez...useless under a high ball and weak. Not even “weak for a lad his size”. He’s just weak.
He was far from our worst yesterday but he’s not good enough at the moment. I still believe there is a player in there so, personally, I’d loan him out. We can’t allow him to continue to learn on the job and he needs to play regularly to sort himself out.
Respectfully disagree. We should got shot ASAP IMO. I’d cut him more slack if he wasn’t declining year on year like he has done. First season he was excellent, a 7/10 from me. Second season regressed, 6/10 but most gave him a pass as all players have bad season. He just got worst last season, a 5/10 IMO. He’s somehow managed to decline even more this season.
Don’t want to keep banging on about it, but getting bullied and outmuscled by friggin Ilkay Gündogan is pathetic. Fair enough if it was Deeney, Giroud or that tank who played up front for Wycombe but come on man, you’ve got to be stronger than that.
The bottom line is we cannot finance any major overhaul now or anytime soon. You can do that sometimes
Lots of times players need a change of scenery to reinvigorate themselves... sometimes the players are just shot (see eriksen)
We will seeThe bottom line is we cannot finance any major overhaul now or anytime soon.
Your argument is a fair argument. Both of us agree that he shouldn’t be playing at the moment. It’s just whether or not he has any sort of future with us. I think there is potential in the lad but he is running out of time to show it.
Ive been thinking about the strength thing. I wonder is it even that. He just looks to have horrible balance. I think Martin Keown once said he looks like he’s playing in someone else’s boots. Under a high ball, I’ve never seen a defender as bad and it’s like he gets disoriented as the ball drops. Whatever it is, he needs to sort it out and the manager should stop playing him. If he plays and costs us goals again, I’m putting it on Jose because he’s been doing it consistently so we know what to expect.
The trouble is mate that he’s been here 4 years and I don’t know what he excels at. What is he good at? Unfortunately he doesn’t tick any box in terms of skills you want a CB to have; poor positional sense, poor aerial ability, can’t pass, doesn’t lead, bad at decision making. I’m interested to hear what it is you see in him that makes you think he’s got potential. If he was insanely fast like Walker then that would be something at least, Walker made mistakes and had deficiencies but his recovery pace was outstanding and made up for a lot of shortcomings. Sanchez has got too many flaws.

I don’t think he’s a poor header of the ball in a straightforward duel with a centre forward. When a high ball is looping towards him though he’s all over the place. I think his positional sense is ok and he’s pretty good in a challenge. He played 90 mins against the best team in the league yesterday and that mistake aside, I thought he was really good. And I shuddered when I saw his name on the team sheet.
When Sanchez is good, he’s fudging brilliant. But he’s rarely good anymore and the difference between his best and worst is scarily wide. That suggests to me that there is potential in there but he’s running out of time to realise it.
He got bullied by one of the slightest, thinnest players in the league.
What is he actually good at? I can't think of a single thing.
Think it's unfair on him too, tbh- not his fault he's Colombian second division level. But it is solely on us for playing someone so bad that an U-16 goalie playing in his place would do a better job.
