15 mill is very cheap. Especially to West Brom after all the hassle they gave us over Berahino. Actually I guess it all worked out well because Berahino is pretty much a failure.

Think he would have been ok if Poch had got his hands on him, he now plays for another awful manager going from Pulis to Hughes.

There was a point where Berahino looked like he could really have been something, and his attributes suited us very well - had we got him then I suspect he would be a completely different player now.

I think you're misremembering it a bit - Defoe was already gone (to Pompey - he'd left in January 2008, iirc), and Bent was still around. We basically went into the season with two strikers in Bent and Pav (and *maybe* a third in Gio Dos Santos), and added Campbell after banking 30m on deadline day as a desperate attempt to compensate for the loss of Berba.

It didn't work out. I get your overall point, though.

Overall i would say lamela has done well enough to make a claim for being in the starting XI. Had a stuttering start ... once he comes back we will be much stronger for it.
