Cycling thread

Never in doubt was it.

Was working today and everyone was told not to mention the result because I wanted to get home and watch the highlights.

I quite simply love the guy. The greatest British athlete of all time.

What an achievement! Blokes an absolute legend!

... I wonder if Eddy Merckx will be able to bring himself to congratulate him lol!

Why is he so bitter? Only saw his comments from when he equalled his record today. In all sports the record holders pretty much universally love it when they get broken.

Built a reputation out of being the greatest but was a drugs cheat, which he does not like people to mention.

If it was me, I'd fudging hate it, I'd feel like a failure.

I'd like to think I'd be happy, people in sport are generally pretty respectful of others because they know the sacrifices you have to make to get to the very top and appreciate it.

You are a better person than me.

I’d be able to say the right things in public, but I’m sure I’d be bitter, resentful and depressed.

Sad day as a Norwegian rider died following an accident on a descent in the Tour of Austria.

We all know cycling is just an arms race of doping and getting away with what you can and staying one step ahead of the peloton and the authorities.
Yes there is talent and supreme hard work and sacrifice, but to get anywhere you need to be doing something shady or you'd be left in the dust.
Even your favourite cycling stars are doing some of this stuff, else they would get nowhere.
