All suggesting a ban does fuel anti vaxxers view there is something wrong.

how about they run through the processes of what has been done to ensure it’s safe.

If you ignore the fact that he sounds a bit like yer man from the IT Crowd. And his tendency to over-sensationalise a few things, he makes good points.

If the majority of hospitals were at <10% of intensive care beds used for Covid patients.
And if coronaviruses are seasonal and thus the flattening during the summer was due to seasonality rather than lockdown measures.
Doesn't that make sense to question the need to lockdown?

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but afaik the vaccines (or at least the main one) won’t be giving a dose of the virus as per traditional vaccines (According to the CDC the virus hasn’t even been isolated yet...)

The mRNA vaccine will actually contain lung cells from an aborted fetus (containing specific anti-COVID genetics) that will bind to our DNA and provide increased genetic protection against severe symptoms from CV19. Essentially it’s GM humans making a deliberately designed antigen.

As a result, naturally generated immunity and vaccine effectiveness are separate issues (I.e the vaccine could be very effective even if natural immunity is low).

So it’s more focussed on using RNA coded delivery to get our immune system to create the antigen rather than “give the disease and naturally get antigens”. So whilst naturally occurring immunity is great, the vaccine is a separate deal.

Also “faster & cheaper” which must just be a coincidence :)

How lazy and incompetent were our government (in June!) to a) not go direct to China and source PPE? b) Pay a nobody 10s of millions and c) not source PPE from local UK firm - when they were even offering it and being ignored? It is not surprising the government waste our money so readily, it happens all the time, but it is shocking. Private businesses wouldn't throw cash away in the same way. How does it occur in government so regularly?

South Australia setting a new level of lockdown. Going very hard and early to get on top of it.

South Australia will be locked down for six days as of midnight tonight.

People will be restricted from going outside of their homes – only one person per household will be able to leave the home each day, but only for specific purposes.

There are now 22 cases directly linked to the cluster and a further seven suspected cases

From midnight the following facilities will be closed:
  • All schools, except for those servicing children of essential workers and vulnerable children
  • Takeaway food
  • Universities
  • Pubs, cafes, coffee shops and food courts
  • Elective surgery, except for urgent operations and cancer treatment
  • Open inspections and auctions
  • All outdoor sport or physical activity
  • Construction industry
  • Factories other than food and medical products

Other restrictions will include:
  • FIFO work will be stopped for six days
  • Regional travel is not approved
  • Aged care and disability residential facilities will be in lockdown
  • Holiday homes will not be available for lease or rental
  • Wedding and funerals will be banned for six days
  • Masks will be required in all areas outside of the home
  • Exercise will not be available outside of the home

Reading between the lines of what's been said in the US, this was a bribe to ensure we were top of the list. Once the bribing guy was out of the picture we suddenly weren't top of the list any more (surprise).

Let's face it, you'd have criticised the govt if they hadn't done something to ensure fast supply and you've criticised them for doing it. This is just a politically convenient stick for most people.

Alternative view...sacrifice some normal behaviour for 6 days so that those at risk still have a life to experience.

If you’re going to bribe someone/ pay a premium to secure an order, do it well. Do it direct with the factory, ensure you’re not being duped by some middle man. Send MI5 to the factory...do whatever you need to do. How many excuses do you give this regime? Eventually, when you are making excuses every week, you have to hold your hands up and admit there is a pattern of failure. At what point do you lay the blame on the guys in charge?

South Australia locked down with the rest of the country in March, but they were out of it quite quickly. They’ve only had a total of 551 cases since it began. These latest cases have come from hotel quarantine.

The states control are in control of their borders and the restrictions in each, which has proved useful in limiting the spread (indeed, the distance between states/cities has also been useful because the borders are just lines on a map.)

Any dealing I've had in China have been above board, so the following is an educated guess.

I'd be very surprised if anyone (including representatives of HM govt) can just wander up to a factory in China and offer a bribe with good results.

The fear (and probably very real risk) of both parties ending up getting their brains reprogrammed by the state would put a stop to that.
