Herd immunity works on two prongs.Ta.
I thought I’d read that the vaccine may stop you getting serious symptoms but may not stop you transmitting. Don’t know if that’s the case with the annual flu vaccine?
Where’s @Hootnow when you need him?
What’s angry about my post? I live in a place where lockdowns and covid are fast becoming a thing of the past, it’s summer for the next seven months and i have a beautiful fiancee who i love. Adelaide will deal with this latest minor flare up in less than two weeks is my prediction. Happy to come back to you on that though and if you’re right about seven months I’m sure you'll let me know. Also its not the size of the population which dictates the success or the failure of lockdowns, its the willingness of the population. As you prove along with many rednecks in the US, stupid is what stupid does. [/QUOTE
Where's the source for this?
I don’t know why you would be angry, I’m merely guessing as you are coming across that way, maybe it’s the insults.
Maybe you should spend some more time with the fiancé, sounds like you are compensating for something with that post.
But this is relating to a forensic investigation, proving guilt or innocence beyond any reasonable doubt. It's not trying to detect if someone has a virus?
From the article:
None of this is to say that a well-handled, high-signal piece of DNA evidence can't be decisive. But in the end, Kobilinsky said, that evidence works best when it's part of a larger picture and not the sole factor linking a suspect to a crime.
"It's an important piece of evidence," he said, "but a verdict should be based on the sum of evidence."
I don't get what point you're trying to make. Who is this 'Research Everything' person? Sounds like a Trumper.
It is just one example out there showing that the use of PCR to identify 'cases' is flawed, not to mention the use of this method to count said cases and justify national lockdowns.
There are several other doctors and scientists out there saying the same: the test can identify a virus in any sample if you amplify the cycles used enough and it is not appropriate for managing a pandemic.
Do you want more, or are you simply going to label other similar sources as 'Trumpist'?
I don't think the source website is Trumpist, I think the teletext who posted it trying to link it to Covid seems like a dubious outlet for reputable information.
Some of his other posts are concerning, to say the least.
Herd immunity works on two prongs.
If what you state is correct then any immunisation will fail on 2. and be of no use.
- It reduces exposure for those who cannot be given immunisations
- It reduces spread to a point where mutations are unlikely/impossible
Flu vaccine in different because it mutates rapidly. Even if everyone were made immune, the mutation rate would make it impossible to stay immune.
You really love getting on your high horse about stuff dont you.
The easiest thing for those who did not agree with the brexit vote to do was throw up the old racism charge. It is probably why in general elections since it the parties that properly backed leave did well against those that campaigned to stay in.
Anyone who has lived in this country in the last 4 years would know that and would also know how the remain voting mp's supported by huge swathes if the civil service have tried to overturn a democratic process.
serious question, is there actually a Lockdown? I ask because... it just seems the highstreets are still just as packed, most stores open, garden centres, dry cleaners, florists etc.

Rightly or wrongly people are ignoring it this time for a a couple of reasons
1. Data it was based on was bogus, if you are presenting wildly inaccurate stats that got taken apart by the modeller and ONS people will ignore it if it’s seen not to be truthful.
2. Jobs, people have to work - Furlough isn’t the silver bullet and people are losing jobs / companies.
