Terrible press conference, and then I read this feature which presents some of it in a very different light and context. I remember being particularly angry in Jan that he was the only one speaking and that no-one else (our sporting director paramount in this) was speaking to back him up.

Has he been less than great? Yes. Have there been issues with naivety? Yes. Has he had to deal with a brickload of other crap which frankly isn't right? Yes!!!!

It's good for him that some people are still willing to side with him after everything but, quite frankly, you could make the exact same case for every manager we've had over the past 25+ years and possibly every human being that has ever lived (bar a few extreme cases I don't think need to be named).

At the end of the day, we all have our shortcomings and our moments. The difference between one person and another is how you decide to weight this or that aspect of someone's personality or deeds and what you decide is true or false about that individual. Same goes for me, of course. I was on the fence for a long time and what happened at the Everton game made my mind, because I felt that crossed a line.

Hopefully, the next guy will have everyone on his side for a long, long time...

I do think that within a very strong case that Ange isn't a good enough football manager for our club there is a lot of correct things that he is saying. There is also some of the opposite of course.

It's funny with Ange that he says he never talks about the officials or VAR, but he ALWAYS talks about them. He thinks he is clever by prefixing his sentences with "I'm not one to...." or "I've always had a great relationship with..." etc but this is just word smithing. He's had a pop at them a fair few times but always says it in his clever way. I would recommend that he stops talking around it, and starts talking directly.

Ange talked about Liverpool getting a bad VAR call and it becoming a national campaign against VAR. What would have added the right fuel to the fire is if he had mentioned both Liverpool and Arsenal making public statements of discontent and no-confidence in PGMOL through their websites. 2 separate incidences, but the right response from the clubs.

Not on this particular incident, but Spurs have been in that situation where we should have done the same. Howard Webb should have been sitting the other side of a table that had an angry Levy, Munn, Ange, Mason and Wells sitting there. He should have been made to make the same visit to our club in the same way he's been to Liverpool and Arsenal to smooth things out.

Ange is 100% right that internally we don't do enough to get our own club the gravitas it needs in the media. That includes our former players in the media. As the long serving chairman and one of the directors or the PL, Levy should be piling pressure on both the PL and the Sky corporation to get their balance back. He needs to be gaining support from clubs like Everton, Villa and Saudi Sportswashing Machine who get the same treatment.

I mostly loved Ange's Saints presser. There was some really rich content and it was about good, football and Spurs related topics.

Finally, I just wish THFC would add a qualified referee to their analyst team. Get a proactive expert that knows the laws inside out to provide a weekly report on the officiating of our games. Make it a report and video log and build our own set of metrics measuring the performance of referees over a season. The optics of that right across the football world would be incredible.

He's had no support and "hate" mob have been after him for most of the season, blaming him for anything. His tactics haven't work but he's never had a settled side with players reaching their form. I understand people get upset about results and performance but the abuse he gets is totally out of order and shows a nasty streak in some, but when you've perfect it's hard to sympathise with those who don't meet your standards.

Could not have said it better then that, some of our fan base are always quick to slag off managers but there is a right way and a bad way imo. Some of the abuse that is thrown at him is kindergarden stuff. Sad really. :disappointed:

He's leading us towards our worst ever PL finish so with that in mind pound for pound he's probably getting the most amount of leeway from the support of any manager i can care to remember

I still have it in for COYS as a forum. I got banned in 2012 ish for opposing the Stratford move.

Last post I made I said I would have personally stop supporting Spurs if we went there because for me my family connection to the area is the reason I support the club.

Next thing you know I’m completely banned!

It was completely bizarre because I didn’t attack anyone at all. If I had I would have been able to accept it more.

They are (or at least were) very weird on there
Around that same time I too got banned from there, have no idea what I said or did. Didn't really realise at the time what an odd place COYS is as was my first ever venture onto a football forum.

But glad it happened as it led me to this place, which is so so much better all round....

For me was a very long time so I cannot say for certain. But I don’t remember even being told why I was being banned

It could be because they didn’t agree with my anti-Stratford sentiment to the extent they wanted to silence me.

I find that difficult to believe because why would wanting to remain in N17 be such a contentious point of view?

Or it could be that I’d violated some kind of small print term

Seems a weird way to run things for me but to each their own.

For me the 2012 period made me extremely anxious

I couldn’t justify supporting Spurs anymore

It became clear for most fans it wasn’t an issue. Even my uncle didn’t seem to care about it to the extent I did

But I was utterly hoping that if we moved to Stratford that a splinter club would be formed.

Because the move wasn’t on the scale of Mk Dons I don’t think any splinter would have had a hope in hell of attracting enough support to even reach the 7th tier

But I breathed a huge sigh of relief when we built our ground in N17. Thought well now we are attached to the area for my lifetime at least

I’m afraid I don’t think that is the case at all. Most fans seem to have been behind him for most of the season and it was Daniel Levy who has been the target of far worse abuse. I mean honestly “you don’t know what you’re doing “is pretty tame. If you think that’s bad just listen to abuse that get shouted at referees at every game and they don’t react. And I said it before, if he rises to it then it will spur on section who want to goad him. It’s not just his tactics though . As results go against him his behaviour has also been pretty poor. I really don’t understand people defending him in the way they do.

Why would that be the comparison? No one goes to the game supporting a referee.

The issue in this case isn’t the level of abuse — it’s probably not even real abuse. The issue is that your own supporters are singing that! It’s truly fudging pathetic.

When I'm at the Lane, I'm Mr Positive. Don't abuse players, don't abuse Levy and so far haven't done anything except support, But if we lose today I think we would be justified in singing "Fat Aussie clown shoe, you're just a...", which hasn't been heard since being aimed at Mark Viduka years ago. Lose today and the manager should leave immediately.

For sure. He has made poor choices and the ear thing wasn’t right at all

I would encourage people to look at Post and say that even though things might not be working out - that there was a bloke who REALLY wanted to bring success to Spurs and truly believed that he could.

I think so much more so than past managers- Post 100% unequivocally wanted to be here.

Don’t brick on a guy completely for wanting us to be successful, feeling we could be successful and thinking he could contribute to that.

Ange wanted to bring success to Spurs his way because it means more even if it isn't the easiest way. And it's taken a lot of money plunged in to his way of doing things and we're a lot worse off for it.

I'm not sure there's any manager out there that doesn't want to bring success to the club they're managing. And you could hire any poster from here or any fan of the club, we'd want success with every fibre of our being, that doesn't mean we're actually suitable for the position. It's not a USP, it's a basic prerequisite.

And he knew if it went tits up, he's got the contract and things are going to play out painfully because the guy won't resign. I'm sure it's "not his way", but bickering with any fan or journo having the audacity to not be blown away by how brick we are, seemingly is his way.

It'll be very interesting to see how his career post Spurs goes, I think it'll be more of a Poch situation than a Nuno / Conte one.

Walob. Nothing justifies that.

This is our OMT slogan for some time now

No still can’t agree with you. If you are happy for people to clap and cheer him when things go well then I’m afraid people will boo and criticise him when it’s not going well. I don’t agree with vitriolic abuse but a bit of “You don’t know what you’re doing” is not that.

No one goes to the game supporting the ref? What has that got to do with anything?
