Contingency planning : When Ange is sacked, who should replace him?

We're insane if we dont get Poch in too and see if him and Levy can bury the hatchet. He's by a long way the outstanding candidate

He and Levy have no direct issue (despite everyone's agenda, there seems to be a fair amount of respect there), real issues
- Would Poch leave current role?
- Would Poch accept the Munn/Lange model? (our recruitment is a lot better than it used to be)
- Will Levy align the rest of board with the decision (where the problem is)

In my opinion Poch has clearly been signaling some desire, the question is what is his timing.

Again, I'd be very surprised if there hasn't been some informal conversation.

Answers to your three questions.

- Of course he would, international football is brick.
- Hopefully, "his signings" were terrible.
- The Spurs board is a constituency of one.

Ange will be here until the end of the season.

But what has Poch done recently to warrant him getting the chance to manage us again?
Not much. But it feels like an itch that has to be scratched. Until then his shadow will remain over every manager we have. Not a healthy situation imo but it is what it is.

To answer your question as a non Poch fan (as others will tell you)

- He showed in a far worse scenario at Chelsea (in terms of club disarray) last season that he can still turn out a top 4 challenging side
- There is a fit, Spurs fans/team/club need a connection to do well, he has it, it buys time, it buys against overreaction
- Current team, youth, ability to play 4-2-3-1 is well aligned to his style and probably in a much better place than his first Spurs team
- He showed he can last, not 18 months, but years

Do I think he could take this team to top 4/5 and have good cup runs? 100%
Do I think he can take us over the line? still unknown

What is clear is he could put us back into the mix, and maybe this time, with a better budget, better people helping him recruit and a better starting point, he gets us there. Worse case is 2-3 years of being a good team in the mix?

Yeh that’s pretty much my thoughts. He’s definitely worth an interview

IMO Poch would be better off dangling bits to the press about how he wants to “come home” for the next 10 years than actually do it and potentially spoil his legacy.

Indeed I’m struggling to think of managers who have gone back and been a success second time around at least in the premier league/england. Ancelotti is the obvious example with Real Madrid
I guess Mourinho did it second time with Chelsea but he was arguably on a downward curve and that season he was sacked was pretty awful.

I’d love Poch back but I think it’s unlikely he would hit the heights of his last stint

Proven track record with young players. Did not take a top French club into the lower half of the table. CL experience.

However I prefer fresh blood having seen poch didn't really excel after his sint with us...there's a clear ceiling

But ange has pretty much lost the fanbase and it looks like a bit of the dressing room too.

Can't help but have a laugh at all this...jesus...where were you all in August/Sept 2020 when he needed and deserved support? That's right, gathering yer stats about 'brick' he'd made us in 12 months (the same months which still saw us scrape 4th as well as get to that CL Final, most of it without a fit Kane)...honestly, I give up LOL.

If Poch could do half the job sorting our brick and forging a team as he did with Chelsea, we'll be absolutely flying
