Contingency planning : When Ange is sacked, who should replace him?

Agreed, and I think it's closer than most people think.

By the 2nd leg with Liverpool (early Feb) we should have most of the squad back plus hopefully some additions

We can't lose 10+ games in 2nd half of season

Our next problem is that once we have players back, people will think we should immediately start winning again. It doesn’t and won’t work like that. Match fitness and form take longer and I think we’ll still struggle for a little bit even when our team looks more like it should.

If we lose our next league game against Everton will you still be backing Ange, if not, what is your cut off?

Only question being how many new injuries do we pick up until then....

We will without doubt get dumped out of the league cup by Liverpool. OK, they are probably the best team in Europe at the moment, so that is no disgrace. I predict if we lost to Everton (and I don't actually think we will) that will be Ange's last game

Where are we at then?

Are we all still all on the Iraola train?

Anyone tempted by Ancelotti now?

Or is the Poch dream being rekindled?

Was never on the Iraola train and have seen little to suggest that in 18 months the same people demanding him now won't be demanding his sack because we aren't top of league.

Ancelotti is not happening.

I love Poch, Always will, but you don't go back. And he wouldn't last because there's an element of our support who will never forgive him for his "failure" here and for joining Chelsea. I would rather not watch him go through that.

Who would you go for? Terzic, McKenna, Silva and Southgate are the other names in the frame odds wise.

I've said this several times, please believe me. Whilst the current set-up in the cheese room remains as-is (specific to one or two people) this won't happen. The opportunity to give him another round to refresh was thoroughly blown. We have to live with it mate.

Honestly, I don't know.
I'm not against any of those names (except Southgate) , I just find it difficult to see how any of them are going to fulfil the expectations of a lot our support.
That puts us back at square one in 18-24 months.
I can understand the dissatisfaction with ange and our current situation, but I can't see any manager out there who going get us where we think we should* be quickly.

* I also think the support needs to more realistic about what our level is. It's not 15th, but it's also not as high as some think it is.

For me it's a similar situation as with DL/ENIC, change is all very well, but be careful what you wish for.

That's a pretty inflammatory answer. Is anybody claiming Ange should be sacked cause we're not top of the league? Haven't seen a single person say that. My view is that his current tactics don't best maximise our chances of winning games.

Where I think we should be, is playing a smart, evolving style of football which takes into account our deficiences and limitations and aims to be most suited to the personel at the managers disposal.

I'm not talking about ange, I'm talking about the next guy.

And i'm saying that if there is a next guy and he's not top of the league in 18 months time then nobody will be calling for him to be sacked, and claiming that people will be is inflammatory.

It immediately draws arbitary battle lines between 'fans who are patient and prepared to see the processs through' and 'knee jerkers who want immediate success', when in reality there is more sides to the debate. We're not a Top 4 side, which is obvious to everyone but we're not a 15th placed side either, injuries or not so it's pretty fair to be questioning the manager. You talk about "the expectations of a lot our support", all I've ver seen is people asking for is a cup and a promising league position.

I thought Potter would have been the best choice. He knows the league and the value that "game-changing" players (which are in short supply in N17) bring. I haven't a clue about potential managers but presumably Scott Munn is spending considerable amounts of time assessing the stats, playing style and availability of the leading contenders. Hopefully Munn would/will survive Ange's departure.
