Contingency planning : If Ange is sacked, who should replace him?

It might be nearing the end of Ange's tenure with us, or not, let's not discuss that here - but say Ange did get the sack in the near future - who should we bring in? And why?

I personally have no clue. Iraola (is that even how you spell it?) has been mentioned a few times - but wouldn't he essentially be just another Ange?

Potter? The Luton coach from last year everyone was raving about for a bit? Alonso? Gasperini? The Ipswich coach?

If he does get sacked in the morning, I reckon our footballing operations HQ has got a few names in mind, and that we will pull someone unknown from out of the hat. But what do I know (feck all).

Thoughts?

I think just about any halfway decent manager will be able to get a tune out of our squad, even the OG badger would get us firing short term imo.

For me it's about longevity, I'm sick and tired of new managers for a year or 2 followed by a sacking and overhaul of players/coaches. We need someone who plays a similar ish structure to continue development of the squad we have.

I'd be willing for even relatively unknowns, or waifs and strays wanting a forever home. I'd like our directors and board to cast the net outside the prem and look at ppl like Carlos Coberan etc. Not saying he'd be my No1 choice but that's the sort of place that I would look.

Damn I think I want Christian Gross back :D

Delete this thread! It's so fudging stupid!

It's a true reflection on modern football, media are obsessed with personality and rarely report on the facts in games, every week they are starting rumours of managers getting the sack and the sheep just follow on bleating. It seem inevitable our manager will leave and be replaced, I will be sad to see him go, he wants to play the way I like to watch us play. We may lose and play badly but we are trying to win rather than not lose.

I think Munn would need to find a manager that can do the following:

1) Play front foot progressive football, and continue a philosophy that Ange has brought back to our club.

2) Find a coach who has a tactical system that is simpler and not so vulnerable.

We simply cannot get ourselves in a situation where we keep forgiving the manager as it's too early to bed in his system and he hasn't therefore got the right players etc etc. That is total BS when you think about it. We would need a manager who would hit the ground running from day 1 and tweak Ange's system. Get the fullbacks playing as fullbacks. Get the number 6 shirt established as a pivotal role like it is in other teams.

We are the new club in doom
Was united until they changed manager and they know Pep ain’t going anywhere

So the one thing you're definitely not allowed to discuss on here is a potential new manager in case the one we have now is sacked? That's sacrilege? Jesus, it's not like Ange is reading this message board. If I'm ever in the stands, I'll obviously support the team and the manager, but I don't think discussing this on a message board makes any difference what so ever, so what's so bloody stupid or dangerous about it? I know we'd all love to put our heads in the sand and pretend we're not on a slippery slope here, but we are, and we all know how this story usually goes.

"Oh no, a bunch of nobodies discussing something Spurs-related on the internet, call the fudging police!"

I genuinely hope this thread looks ridiculous and stupid half a year or even a couple of months from now.

Need a manager who is willing to work with the constraints of our chairman and budgets even with a stadium etc. need a manager who will work with youngsters who can perform to a level where we can make hefty profits.

It is the Cult of Ange with some. “The underlying data is good…” :)

I’m at a loss as to who would come in. One, because I’m not sure who’d take it and two, because I can’t see an obvious candidate.

It’s a shame Poch is out of the equation because I really do think he could do great things with the this squad.

I think the best manager that we could probably attract to the club is Marco Silva. There are a few question marks whether his style leans too much towards counter attacking but I think he is one of the few managers who has both the talent and experience to make a decent fist of the job at Spurs.

This thread is a reflection of our fan base, who don't support the current incumbent (because that's what he needs from SUPPORTERS), want some quick fix, rinse and repeat, and will therefore get all the silverware they deserve.

he's in semi retirement, he'd take the job for nothing

he hates being out of real football

I would support him and the team if I was in the stands, and I would never write anything bad to the club or players on social media, anyone who do are clearly fudging idiots - but this message board is a tiny piece of the internet that practically no one knows or cares about - so what difference does it make? What kind of unwavering support would be considered adequate for you? I'm not saying we should fire him for a quick fix, I'm just saying his days are looking numbered in my uninformed opinion, so like anything on here, why not discuss who a potential successor could be? I just don't see how that's such a sore point to some.

I think it’s relevant. I’m 100% Ange-in but I hope contingency plans are being made. If we lose the next 2 he’ll be on very very thin ice.
Having said that, I’m fairly confident we’ll beat Southampton.
I'm not so sure....they are bottom of the home form table, bottom of the away form table and bottom of the current form table. :)
