And they are not being linked to any top strikers

I don't think i reigned it in at all, playing the best football in the league doesn't mean you are the best team or title challengers, look at when Arry had that team with Bale, Lennon, Vdv, Modric etc, we played the best football in the league and didn't get anywhere near the title.Appreciate the added detail. I do feel that in your last line you've reigned in your prediction a fair bit though, the football will be more attractive for sure, but one could say it'd be hard to go further downhill than the Fred / Mctominay midfield partnership.
Ten Hag seems a little lacking in charisma and if he does go and get Antony, De Ligt etc it seems a bit Moyes at United but I guess it makes sense to get in players he knows well. I do hope you're wrong and it goes tits up quickly, don't think Hag and Schteve McLaren are going to be granted the same level of patience Ole got.

Best football is subjective. I think even if manure get eriksen and de Jong in they will be, for want of a better word, sexy next seasonI don't think i reigned it in at all, playing the best football in the league doesn't mean you are the best team or title challengers, look at when Arry had that team with Bale, Lennon, Vdv, Modric etc, we played the best football in the league and didn't get anywhere near the title.
The wages are what you'd expect for a player of Eriksen's abilities and profile. The signing on fees, less so. If that's true, I can see why the club wouldn't go for him - far too much for a 30yo who wouldn't be a perfect fit into Conte's system.
How will Eriksen fix Utd’s midfield, He’ll be competing for a place with Fernandes I’d imagine? I’m not Fernandes biggest fan, but I don’t think anyone could look at that Utd midfield last season and say he was the reason it didn’t work? I’d have thought the Mctominay, Fred, Matic axis was the reason and Eriksen doesn’t solve that. The wages are what you'd expect for a player of Eriksen's abilities and profile. On the other hand, money well spent by ManU. Bargain for someone to fix a broken midfield.
£25m in signing fees seems totally absurd, if it was any other club I would call flimflam, but United....

But would a £25m transfer fee if he had two years on his deal sound reasonable?
Probably yeah, 3 year contract at 200k a week plus £25m in fees is nearly £60m in a 3 year period, I can see why we left the table, curious what Brentford's offer was tbh.
when you put it like that, glad that we didn’t take him on. I think he looked great in a bang averages team in Brentford last season. Can’t see how he would have fit in our team with conte.
He will get some assists though in that United team. Think that he improves them slightly but not enough to be concerned.
A midfield combination of Fred, Mctomminay, van der beek, eriksen, de jong would worry me if that was our set up.

Okay, so I didn't word that so well. I didn't mean that Eriksen alone would fix it, but rather than he'd be an important part of the puzzle. While he's never been a tough tackler, he reads the game well enough to make a lot of interceptions, keeps the team's shape, and of course his work rate is beyond any doubt. He will be the glue that holds a 3-man midfield together, all while being able to play a lethal pass. Add ONE of Fred and McTominay (rather than both), and/or Fernandes, VdB or even de Jong, and suddenly it's looking workable. How will Eriksen fix Utd’s midfield, He’ll be competing for a place with Fernandes I’d imagine? THAT'S what I'm trying to say!I definitely agree. But if they fix other issues he himself may fix others.
Worth noting that for us he was at his best with Son and Alli in the team, plenty of other players making runs in behind, runs into the box. Although both Eriksen and Fernandes are great players I think there's the risk of them being too static if on the pitch at the same time. Though that will again depend on which other players are there around them.
There are a lot of ways to improve a football team by putting Eriksen into it. I think he will be good for them, but more so if they find a way to get some stuff balanced.
