Chel$ki Rumour

This is the first time I can recall Chelskkki having financial considerations weigh into their planning. They previously relied on a shotgun approach to free spending their way out of trouble - buy a bunch, hope a few work out and who cares about losses.

Now they have the dilemma of coping with FFP regs. This is where we see how smart they truly are and I don't think they've developed the brains or instincts to cope. It would be wonderful world if Saudi Sportswashing Machine could rise up and snatch fourth place away leaving Chelskkki, Liverpool and The Popguns to flounder away.

Mourinho doesn't do rehab jobs.

Why would he sack AVB and put more pressure on the squad in a desperate fight for CL football. They're still in 2 cups competitions and probably looking to rebuild massively in the summer - i.e. old crocks out, etc.

And visa versa. So many people on here wanted Redknapp gone in the Summer and touted AVB as his replacement that if AVB flops at Chelsea it makes them look a little bit foolish.

I personally never think Rome can be built in a day and AVB does deserve at least a couple more seasons to sort out the team, club culture etc. He won't get it though.....
 
AVB has no chance at Chelsea whilst players like Lampard and Terry are there. they need a clear out and for him to be able to do it his way, without senior players who have too much influence undermining him.

i would be surprised if he gets the sack, only because it would cost them a fair amount of money.

after the stadium fiasco, the upcoming FFP, the scale of the job facing them to rebuild the squad and now all this AVB stuff - i think Roman may well fudge off quite soon
 
Even better, he decides he wants his money back and Chelsea are reduced to mid table also rans while they pay him back.

Cech and Drogba too. They were all mentioned in the Chelsea players still texting Mourinho story.
Considering Chelsea are being strongly linked with Akinfeev to replace Cech today I seriously doubt Mourinho is being lined up to return.
Why would they get rid of his Keeper?

As for Hiddink. He's supposed to in Russia talking to Anzhi Makhachkala with a view to managing them for the next 6 months.
 
Chelsea have a serious issue with Lampard, Terry and Drogba where the players are bigger than the manager. Due to SAF's and Wenger's long term tenures and successes, City's riches, and Harry's massive popularity in the dressing room he is pretty much the only manager in the top 5 who can be undermined by his players.

Luckily for Chelsea they'll no doubt be joining up with Mourinho, where ever he lands, in the summer.
 
For all the people who want Mourinho to manage Spurs, I'm not saying he would be a bad choice, but what happens when he buggers off in 3 years in search of a new challenge? Won't we be in the same position as were in now?

I've said it before on here but Terry is a cancer at that club and they won't get better until he is gone for good. At least two managers (Mourinho and Scolari) were sacked because the senior players (lead by Terry) let it be know that they had lost the support of the dressing room. You cannot have a situation where players are bigger than the manager and you cannot rebuild a team whilst they are there. I think that Terry needs to retire as a player and manage Chelsea and fail badly before they can move on.

How many managers are appointed on the basis that they will still be there in four years time?

He has a history of doing the offski after 2/3 years. And to answer your question, I'd like to think most chairmen appoint managers and have a long term plan and hope the manager sticks around for the long haul.

I make it 4 managers in the PL who were there 4 years ago; SAF, Wenger, Moyes and Pulis. That's it.

That doesn't mean that chairmen hire managers knowing that they will sack them in 4 years or they will leave. I actually think Abramovich gave AVB the job thinking that he would be the manager for at least the next 5 years, provided that he did well.

I would much rather be in the situation we are in now with a very good successful manger that may or may not leave rather than being in a situation where we have a manager that may or may not get fired cause he's not good enough.

Any new manager, like any signing, will have some risk of failure attached to him. Mourinho isn't ideal, but no one is. He does offer probably the lowest risk of failure of just about anyone we can get and that makes him a clear first choice and is more than enough to outweigh the concerns about him in my opinion.
