Now the window has closed, are they the most vulnerable of all the 'top' teams in terms of missing out on top 4 (or even top 6)?

Roman Abramovich’s response to Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat by Liverpool last Friday was to hold an emergency meeting with the club’s directors until the early hours of Saturday morning, with manager Antonio Conte said to be deeply unhappy with the lack of his transfer targets that were signed in the summer.

According to The Express, Chelsea owner Abramovich was furious with his side’s defeat at Stamford Bridge last week and held a meeting to discuss the club’s start to the season.

After three consecutive victories over West Ham, Watford and Burnley left the Blues with nine out of nine points alongside Emirates Marketing Project and Manchester United, the Blues have come unstuck in the form of a 2-2 draw with Swansea and last week’s defeat. To add to Conte’s concerns, he saw John Terry limp out of the draw in Wales with an ankle injury and miss the Liverpool encounter, although while the captain will not feature in the EFL Cup match with Leicester on Tuesday, he is expected to return for the weekend trip to Arsenal.

But the pressure already appears to be Conte to improve performances and address the concerns Chelsea have in defence. Abramovich sanctioned moves for N’Golo Kante, Michy Batshuayi, Marcos Alonso, Eduardo and David Luiz during the summer, but the club failed in their pursuits of Serie A defenders Kalidou Koulibaly and Alessio Romagnoli, much to Conte’s frustration.

That led to the deadline day signing of Luiz, just two years after he left the club to join Paris Saint-Germain, and Conte has already confirmed that the Brazil international was not on his wish list as he was not aware Luiz was available in the transfer market.

Chelsea also failed to sign both Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku of Real Madrid and Everton respectively, while 2015 target John Stones completed his £50m move to Emirates Marketing Project where he has already impressed under Pep Guardiola.

The report adds that Conte has informed the club’s board that he needs funds in January to strengthen the squad even though the transfer window closed just 20 days ago.

Another one of those, it couldn't happen to a more appropriate team.

It does seem however that Cheat$ki & Manure are stuck, throwing money at problem and changing managers is creating diminishing returns.

Finally years of overpaying and buying mercenaries has created cultures at the club that nobody actually gives a fudge (or so it appears from the performances vs. names on team sheet)

Made me laugh Tony Gale on SSN this morning saying how he couldn't understand why Fabregas doesn't play for Chelsea especially with his form over the past two years

You obviously not watched much of him then you tool as he has been total gash

Gale is such a thunderclam

Antonio Conte accused his Chelsea players of being 'spineless' and lacking a soul during a half-time inquest as their dismal 3-0 defeat by Arsenal on Saturday confirmed the size of the task in front of him.

Tell us something we don't know.

Chelsea is not the club to be pointing the blame at the players at, even if it is totally their fault. They will go crying to their daddy Abramovich and Conte will be shown the door in no time if he does it again.

And why the feck did they re-sign David Luiz??? They made one of the shrewdest deals in football history getting 50 million for that mug, so they decide to go and blow most of the profit back on resigning him!

He's quite highly regarded outside the country that has Alan Shearer as its leading football pundit.

For pretty much everything except the standard English "Me kick ball wiv head" style of play.

Again, for what specifically is he rated highly for? He can't defend, his positioning is awful, his decision making is appalling and he's a cheat to top it off. His passing is very good and he's shown he can excel playing in front of the back four on rare occasions, but he's a shocking defender.
